Tell me whom in this grave doth lie,
Beneath the heavy graying sky,
Tell, did they deserve to die,
And forgotten on the shores to lie?

There is no one here to cry for them,
Tell what was their deadly sin,
That laid them so apart from men,
All alone with sea and wind?

How can you say that none doth weep,
When they are mourned by ocean deep?
How can you say that none doth cry,
When tears are raining from the sky?

I know not whom in this grave might lie,
But in Gods regard they seem held high,
Spared lifes pains, it was their right to die,
Forever mourned by sea and sky.
