A rich diversity in life allows for more medical discoveries, economic development, and adaptive responces to challenges, such as the change in climate. The main causes of the loss of biodiversity are deforestation and the introduction of non-native species. The United States government, on federal, state, and local levels, is held responsible for maintaining many of our natural resources. The govrnment regulates everything from fishing, hunting, and other natural resoures of our land and water (www.globalissues.
org/EnvIssues/Biodiversity.asp). Consumers can also do their share in helping preserve biodiversity. First, everyone should be sure to follow government regulation concerning hunting and fishing. One should also use enviroment-freindly fuels and products. Already, many tax-deductions are offered for those who use these products. I beleive preserving are natural environment is crucial to helping the evolution of both human knowledge and the environment. it is the responsiblity of the consumer as much as the government to prevent the loss of biodiversity. |
