Alternative Energies |
Alternative Energies...consist of renewable energy sources and more efficient non-renweable resources. Some examples of RENEWABLE energy sources are Biomass, Small geothermal, Solar thermal, and Wind energy. Also, many ENERGY EFFICIENT appliances are available (worldbank.org/astae/renew.htm). Alternative energies themselves are not a problem, but the fact more alternative energies are not used is. By using alternative energies, the nonrenewable energies of the earth are preserved. Eventually, are nonrenewable resources will be gone. |

Pros and Cons |
Alternative Energies are a great way to protect the environment and preserve the future of mankind. Alternative energies often release much cleaner bi-products than the traditional fosil fuels. Also, alternative energies will last much longer than nonrenewable energies. Today, disadvantages of alternative energies are high prices and unavailablility. However, the higher the demand and time will change both of these negative factors. |

What can be done? |
The government does do some to help make alternative energies, but consumers can do even more. But energy efficient appliances, alternative energy cars, and build more energy efficient houses. The government offers many tax breaks for actions such as buying a hybrid or using better insulation on your house. I believe everyone can do their part in building a more energy efficient environment. |
