This page is what it says it is -my news.
Over the years, whilst moving 1/2 way across the world meeting many people and making many friends I have been very bad about keeping in touch. I always think I will and mean to but all good intentions soon fade. Coping with every day life takes over. So I thought I'd try and keep a sort of cyber diary. As we are about to do a massive move to a country we have visited (our last visit to France was in 1994),but we don't speak the language. I have an idea where we are going but who knows where we will land up. So it might get interesting.

At the moment we live in what remains of an Irish Estate house. The home of the Maloney family for centuries the big house was burnt down during "the troubles" of the 1920's. All that is left of the main house are the cellars. There is a 3 story ivy covered ruin of what was the servants quarters and a stunning 2 acre walled garden (or walled field as it is now) The house we live in is in very sorry repair. It was we belive the living quarters for the stable staff. It was left derelect for years and then done up with very little money. My mother calls it my Irish hovel- she may have a point. I have had a 5 year love/hate relationship with this house. We had great dreams when we bought it. I am sad to be leaving but we took on too much and over invested so we never had the money to do what we wanted. Then the momentum and the energy ran out. Not the world's best housewife I look forward to more modern living quarters in France. My saying to my husband when he is surfing the net for French property is "no chateau and no potential!"

We had a rough year last year as the planned sale/move just did not happen for various reasons. We have now sold the bulk of the land and the caves. We have great hopes of selling the house and remaining 9 acres (including walled garden) soon. If we manage that or not Stewart is pushing to move. Living with constant uncertanty is not healthy.

UPDATE
21/03/02
Shortly after writing the above my computer crashed on me. I must have downloaded a hungry bug with an appetite for Windows startup files. Febuary is not a good month for me and this year was no exeption. We finally got paid for the land and the caves last friday (a mysterious delay occured - we still are not quite sure what happened). So Febuary was not good and the first two weeks of March were a nightmare. Now the immediate problems have been solved and we're heading for a "whistle stop tour" of Scotland visiting friends and family for easter. Soon after we get back Stewart plans to head for France on an exploratory mission.

On the computer front my old faithfull friend is to become the childrens. We have invested in a lovely new laptop which I'm just getting used to - general family comment "wow, this is sooo coool!". I'm heading for Galway this weekend with a friend and high on my shopping list is graphic software - though I'm not sure how much time I'm going to get to use it over the next few months!.

Well i'ts midnight and I have a busy weekend ahead having some much needed FUN!!
