Emily Updates...
A journal by "Mom"

February 2007
I can't believe it has been this long since I updated this site.  I guess that's a great thing, because it means that our day-to-day life no longer revolves around cancer!  Emily is in 4th grade and is doing quite well.  She is struggling with some chemo related learning disabilities - but her grades are awesome (all A's,  B's and 1 C - math - ugh)!   Scott and I work closely with her teachers, and really have to spend our evenings devoted to homework....but the effort is certainly worth it.  Emily is very much into music and dancing.  She will be in the school play this spring and is on a competition dance team.  She's a healthy, happy 9 year old...wants a cell phone (NO WAY!) and is starting to grow up!  Today we're off to see the Hanna Montana movie with Emily's best friend.  Me...I'm taking ear plugs, ha ha.

I'll try to update again soon!  My space on this site is getting used up ---so look for a completely redone site in the future.

September 2004
Wow....I can't believe I have waited this long to update this page!  We had a great summer - no major trips but just lots of fun.  We visited the Cincinnati Zoo, Kings Island, Old Coney, and made several trips to the fabulous Newport Aquarium.  Emily's new passion is sharks!  She loves looking at books about them, and on her most recent visit to the public library, she insisted on checking out no fewer than 6 books about sharks!
Emily is in first grade, and is doing well.  She's struggling a bit with reading...but with a little extra effort and guidance, I think she will do just fine.  She has adjusted very well to the shift to "full day" school hours, and so have I.  I'm back to work - providing home care PT, and enjoying myself very much.  Emily's latest CT scan and tests were all clear and cancer-free!  Wahoo....another year under our belts.  This marks year 4.
Fall is slowly starting to make it's way here, but the weather is still quite warm during the day.  Our trees are confused.
We're looking forward to the fall season....Halloween, Thanksgiving...raking leaves, drinking hot chocolate, and warming up at our outdoor fireplace.
We hope you all are enjoying the fall season too!

Happy New Year everyone!  Emily is doing just great, and is a very busy 5 year old!  She has just
joined "Daisy Girl Scouts" and has really bonded with the 5 other girls in her troop.  They recently earned their first patch - a "movie" patch, by attending "The Cat In The Hat" together as a group.

She has continued with her gymnastics and ballet classes, and is doing very well in school.  I've finally gotten around to developing some 7 or 8 rolls of film that I have been hoarding....that was a costly mistake I won't make again!  Our photo dev. bill was about $100!  Gads!   Anyway....look for more pics to be posted online soon.  ( As soon as I can figure out how to get the file sizes down for the "freebie" geocities account!)

Scott, Emily, and I hope that you and your family had a wonderful holiday...and will be enjoying a peaceful, healthy new year!

I thought it was about time for an update!   Emily is doing just great!  She started Kindergarten in
September and just loves school.  She has 2 favorite friends, and really seems to be having a great time with her classmates.  She's currently taking gymnastics and ballet/tap classes at our local
YMCA, and is looking forward to joining the "Daisy Girl Scouts" in the next couple of weeks.
Halloween is fast approaching, and Em is very excited about her "witch" costume.  She insists on
being a "pretty witch", not a scary one.  "I don't want to scare the little kids, Mommy", she says!

We're all looking forward to a big halloween party with our friends and family.  Pictures to
follow!
