As the flowers and plants fell to the ocean floor, the young maiden watched happily.  While doing so, she lost her balance and fell into the shimmering, blue water.  As the maiden came up for a breath, there was a sudden gust of wind.  Taking the breath, she went back under the water and exhaled, releasing the breath of the sky to the sea.  When her brother dived into the sea to rescue her, he witnessed the oceans first breath.

Before the surprised warriors eyes, the plants and flowers began to come alive and transform into colorful fish and plant life.  The plants suddenly turned into sea lilies and algae, and the flowers became clown fish, and other kinds of fish.

The fish spirits were so moved by the Indian maidens beauty and love for the sea decided to give her the gift of forever enjoying it.  As the warrior and his sister came up for a breathe, she told him to let her go so that she could forever watch the fish spirits.

After that, to his amazement, the sea embraced her and the water around her began to swirl and churn like a tornado.  At teh center of the tornado, the young maiden began to transform.  Her long arms and legs magically turned into large flippers and she suddenly grew gills in her neck.

When the transformation was complete she had turned into a bottle-nosed dolphin.  Since dolphins breathe air, she changed so that she cold still see her brother and family, and also be with the fish and sea life.  In the generations that followed, her ancestors from both the dolphins and humans continued to protect both the land and sea, and to make sure that the sea would always contain the beauty and life that the Indian brother and sister so wanted to achieve.
