| Low-Income Registration Fee Reduction Program Information The objective of this program is to help remove financial barriers to participation in community classes and programs so that more members of the community may benefit from the recreational, cultural, social and educational opportunities available through Empire Park Community League. The program provides a 75% reduction in registration fees for programs or classes as follows: Eligible Programs and Classes - Instructor and/or material costs must be paid by Empire Park Community League (programs offered by other leagues are not eligible) - The activity is not eligible for assistance from other known sources (example: Kidsport). - No more than 25% of registrations in any program or class are funded by this program (reduced fee spaces will be filled on a first-come first-served basis). - The amount of the fee reduction (up to 75% of the total registration cost) will not exceed the instruction/materials cost per participant (for example, additional fees charged to nonmembers are NOT eligible for reduction). Applicant Eligibility Applicants (or applicant families) must be: - receiving some form of government income security program benefits (example: EI or AISH). - hold a valid City of Edmonton Fee Reduction Card, OR - be recommended by an official representative of another agency/organization (not Empire Park Community League) who can confirm the need for assistance. NOTE: Receiving the Child Benefit and/or GST Rebate are NOT accepted as sufficient proof of need for the purposes of this program. Applicants must submit an application form to confirm their eligibility. Information provided for this purpose will be treated as confidential. Applicants must pay the portion of the registration fee not covered by the fee reduction program. Eligibility decisions may be appealed before the Empire Park Community League Board. The decision of the board will be final. Program Limitations: - No more than one program session or course per family member per budget year. Each member of an eligible family may receive a registration fee reduction once each year (until funds budgeted for the year are used up), but no family member may receive a reduction more than once each year. |
