| Elijah Umphlett was born in 1831 in North Carolina. He spent his life as a farmer. He was married to Louisa Brown who was born in 1825 in North Carolina. He was listed with his wife Louisa and children: William, Missouri, and Caroline, At the time they were living between James Wright and Celia Harrell. Louisa was listed in the 1880 Hall Township Census without Elijah. She was listed with her children Martha and Darsey. They were listed as living beween Rufus A. Harrell and her son, William D.
