Bekki and Mallory first met back in the 7th grade when Bekki noticed Mallory's butt long hair and Mallory noticed Bekki's baby hands in Ms. Harris' pre algebra class. They didn't really become friends until 10th grade. In April of 2002, they decided to create their own little punk rock emo band, which they named Emphatic Static after the previous two names fell apart (Drowned by your Standards and Draven). Now weed day shares another celebration, Emphatic Static's first band practice (4/20). At first, writing music was Hard, as neither had done the whole band thing before and the guitar was still a new instrument to them. Sitting on the Crofton curb of the Ghetto Meadows where Bekki lived, the first few burnt songs were written...such as Speed Racer, Boyd Boy, and Bondage. These crappy ass songs didn't stick, and fortunatley soon the vibe set in, and a long ass time later, the duo had written enough songs to create their own album. Unfortunately, due to a lack of drummer and bass, practice space and driver's licenses', and short attention spans they didn't write as much as they wanted, or pretty much do anything at all. They played to audition for the 2004 high school battle of the bands and placed 5th (out of 8 full bands, woohoo) at their school. In May of 2004, they released a home made CD of 8 acoustics, and most feedback was positive. Motivated, they plan to play more acoustic shows in the near future. The band stopped action during freshman year, but now plan on reworking some old tunes, writing new ones, and possibly recording. On April 20th 2005 Emphatic Static celebrated 3 years of musicness...woohoo!! You complete me starfish! The end.
