Part 91- Receiving End

Once Jia found out that Sugihara lived, we found out that Jia had been definitely been around Toki too long. He threw a folder across his office, papers flying everywhere as Jun and Aya ducked to not get hit by the paper.

"Fuck!!"

He cursed, the word so loud it bounced off the walls, echoing in our ears as Tai said,

"Jia, you should relax."

Aya's pretty face that was still marred by the still black bruises on his cheek and around his eye, looked up as he said,

"I'm sorry."

Jia fell back against his chair as he sighed. He didn't say anything for a moment before he then patted his pockets down and took out his cigarette case. He then said,

"It's okay Aya. I know you risked a great deal for that."

"I didn't even succeed to kill him. And he was right there."

I could tell Aya felt angry with himself, mad at his failure though it was not really his fault. Sugihara was like a roach that refused to die. His need for survival was greater then anything. He refused to die, no matter the circumstances. Toki sighed as he said,

"So...what now?"

Jia inhaled from his cigarette then said,

"We work overtime."

"Overtime?" Said Toki.

"Overtime, meaning everyone busts their asses. Even me. Call in all the lower heads. All of them, pass the word down that everyone gets in Tokyo and we find Sugihara now. I don't care of the arrogant bastard is sleeping in his car, in a ditch just to be avoided, but they better find him and at this point, I don't care who kills him as long as someone does it. I'm calling Nishiki and from there, I'm calling all the figure heads in Japan to do the same thing I'm doing and every city, country side and suburb to look for Sugihara in all of Japan. Anyone finds him, kill him now on the spot. Get started."

We nodded, leaving his office in a hurry as we started to call the lower heads to they could get the message out. Jia got on the phone right away.

The rest of us met with lower heads on our way out, everyone getting their coats on as we held our phones to our ears or just adjusted the ear piece. I let Hisoka know what was going on and for him to pass the word through to his associates. I then left the building with Akio, Aoki and Toki as we all get in the car I was driving. Jun, Mikkie and Aya headed towards the subway, Gabriel and Tai caught a cab as I started up the car and headed off. I drove for a while, listening as everyone spoke on their phone every now and then. Akio then said,

"Jo, pull over."

I did as told as I saw we were in front of the make shift casino Toshimasa and Daisuke once ran. I shut off the engine and the lights as I said,

"What are we doing here?"

"Duh Jo, where else might Sugihara go other then to his partner in crime who brought him in." Said Toki.

I thought for a moment, wondering if Toshimasa might harbor him. I wouldn't be surprised though, he was, after all, helpless. He said it in his own words since he had always depended on Daisuke to be the guard dog. Someone like Toshimasa could not stand up against Sugihara. Toki went into his pockets as he took out his cigarettes and took one out as he then lit it. He then looked up as he said,

"Akio, did Li say where Toshimasa was at?"

"Nah, not a word."

"We should find out at least if he's around, or even in Tokyo." Said Aoki.

I nodded as I went into my pockets and took out my cell phone and called Hisoka. His line rang for a moment as he said,

"Hai?"

"Hisoka, I need to know if Toshimasa is still in Tokyo."

"Last I checked he was."

"Arigato."

I hung up as I looked over at Akio and said,

"He's still in Tokyo."

"Okay then, let's go check the scene."

Toki said, smirk on his mouth, cigarette hanging from his lips as his white shirt was wrapped around his head again. He got out, pulling up his jeans that were hanging low on his hips as his gun was tucked into the back of his pants. Akio then sighed as he said,

"Let's get it going."

He got out as Aoki followed him. I then did as well as I followed them, taking out my cigarettes as I lit one and then tucked my hair back as Toki leaned against the door and inhaled his cigarette as he exhaled, his cigarette never leaving his mouth. Aoki leaned on the other side as I stood behind Akio and watched as he knocked the door. It opened just a crack as Akio raised his glock and said,

"Open up unless you want me to shove my way in."

The door was about to slam when Akio leaned back slightly and kicked the door. The sound of a chain popping off was heard as the wood slammed against the guy behind it. Aoki came in as he raised his gun out and without saying a word, everyone fell to the ground. Toki followed in as he smirked and flicked his cigarette out to the side. He knelt down to guy who got a face full of door as he said,

"I got a question for ya man."

The guy, who's nose was gushing blood looked at Toki as he said,

"What?"

"Toshimasa here?"

"Hai....back room. He should be there."

"Good."

He stood back up as he walked ahead. Aoki led the way to the back room as he went inside. The room was empty except for a table. Akio and Toki went in and checked the room for any doors or anything and then we looked around. Everyone was still on the floor as we walked through as I flicked the ash from my cigarette. We looked around as I tried to remember the casino since I came here before so many times. I then noticed, near the booking area as I said,

"Over there. There's a door there."

Toki went ahead as he tested the knob and then said,

"Locked."

Aoki then sighed, taking the cigarette from his mouth as he said,

"Open it then."

Toki sighed, stepping back as he then lifted up one of his pant legs and kicked sat the door, breaking it clean open. He moved back the frame as he looked in carefully and then said,

"Staircase."

Akio then went after him as Toki went up, I followed as Aoki covered us.

It was quiet as we went upstairs. I wondered why. Once we got to the floor, I saw Toki crouch down, his knees on the stairs as he crawled up the rest of the way. He the looked around the corner of the narrow stairwell as he then stood up again and said softly,

"No one's there."

He went ahead, Akio following as I went up as well. We peered down the hallway, moving slowly as Akio grabbed my arm and pressed us both against the wall. I looked at him as he mouthed the word "camera" as he gestured with his eyes. I looked slightly above us as I saw the camera. Toki was leaned against the wall too as Aoki didn't even come out of the stairwell. I took out my blade from my pocket as I flicked out the blade and stood under the camera as I cut the wires and then Akio said,

"We have to move."

We split up as we walked down opposite ends of the hall, me with Akio, Aoki with Toki. We traveled silently, seeing nothing and keeping an eye out for cameras. Once we reached the end of the hallway, we looked around the corner carefully as I then saw a semi closed door a few feet away. I crept down to the floor, crawling towards the door as I listened in for anything. Other then a few sounds of paper being rustled, I didn't hear much of anything else. I stood back up as I looked inside and saw Toshimasa sitting on a bed, his white button down shirt slightly open, his collarbones showing as he looked through some papers in his hands. His coat from his suit was laying beside him and he looked relaxed. I turned away, waving Akio over as he came over to me. I opened the door as I said,

"Toshimasa."

He looked up, somewhat surprised as he stood and said,

"What are you doing here? What's going on?"

Akio closed the door behind him as he said,

"We have to talk to you."

I took a quick look around the room seeing a large vase of roses sitting on the table not to far from the bed. It was a bedroom. Toshimasa sat back down, his light brown hair falling around his eyes as he said,

"About what?"

"We need to find Sugihara. We know you and the Teo Chiu were partners when Daisuke was alive. We think he may have come to you now."

"Why?"

"He was shot a while ago. Have you seen him?"

"I saw him a few days ago. He needed somewhere to go. He knew he couldn't stay in a hotel."

"Where did you send him?"

"He was here. He was resting from his wound."

I went over to Toshimasa as I said,

"Where is he now?"

"I'm not sure. I'm not keeping track of him just my work."

"Fuck...then he could be gone for now. What other room is up here?" Said Akio.

"Down the other end of the hall."

Akio nodded, going into his pockets as he took out his cell phone. He texted one of them and then waited for a response. I then said,

"Where else might Sugihara go?"

"I'm not sure. Sugihara and I aren't close. He's just a guard for the Teo Chiu. He's threatened me out of money because of me allying with the 36 Moons."

"What do you mean he's threatened money out of you?"

"He said e needed money. And if I didn't give him anything, he would slit my throat. Without Daisuke here anymore, he isn't afraid of anything I could say or do."

Akio sighed as he said,

"Maybe they found him, Toki's not responding."

Akio began to leave as I looked back at Toshimasa and said,

"Don't go anywhere. Stay in this room and lock the door after we leave okay?"

"Is something going on?"

"More or less. Just stay put."

He nodded and got up as he followed me to the door. I then heard it's gentle closing and the soft click of the lock. I then followed Akio down the hall again.

We traveled slowly and I was feeling somewhat warm and tired. I guess it had been a while since I've done any late night work like this. We passed the doorway again as I took a quick look as a flash of blonde pinned me against the wall. I managed to choke out a gasp as Akio turned around. I came face to face with Sugihara who now held a knife to my throat. Akio didn't move as I stared into Sugihara's heavy lidded eyes. He then said to me,

"How's it feel to be on the opposite end."

The blade of the knife was pressed so close to my skin, I felt the metal start cutting into me. I stared back at him as I said,

"Figures you had to come after me in the dark you fucking coward."

He laughed as he pulled me away from the wall and stood behind me as he turned us to face Akio. He still stood motionless as Sugihara said,

"You better not move."

"You're gonna kill him anyway. Why shouldn't I kill you now?"

Sugihara scoffed as he said,

"That's fucked up. You'd let the baby die?"

"You're gonna kill him anyway."

He took out his glock as he raised it up and aimed at the both of us. I wasn't afraid. I knew he had to kill Sugihara, even if that meant going through me too. Aoki and Toki rounded the corner as they saw the scene playing out. I couldn't risk hitting Sugihara myself since the blade was already cutting into me, blood running down my neck. If I moved, he could just wound me further. I looked up at Toki and Aoki behind Akio as I tilted my head to the side. Sugihara started walking me backwards to the door frame that led down the stairs again. I decided to risk it. I reached out quickly, grabbing the door frame, risking the blade killing me as I jabbed Sugihara back from me. His arm moved back slightly as I fell forward, feeling the sting of my wound as I heard a gun shot. I heard Sugihara's cry of pain as Toki and Aoki started firing too. I started getting up as much to my horror I saw blood dropping rapidly from my throat. Akio helped me get to my feet as he said,

"Shit..."

Toki came over to me as he said,

"He okay?"

"I think he's gonna loose blood if we don't get the fuck out of here."

They helped me walk out and I felt fine as we slowly walked down the stairs, stepping over Sugihara's bullet riddled body. We jumped over it as we went out to the casino. We got back in the car as Aoki reached into my coat pockets and took out the keys as he got in the driver side and Toki got in the passenger as Akio helped me in the back. I pressed my hand to my neck, feeling blood still trickling out. I put pressure against it as Akio helped me. He then said,

"How you feel?"

"Tired."

Aoki pulled out and drove us back to Jia's building. The ride went by so smoothly. I felt it to be soothing, comforting and I soon started feeling more and more sleepy. Before we even got to the building, I passed out on Akio's shoulder, so comfortable, still warm.
