Part 14- Everlasting
I had to get a new place to stay. Jia's apartment was now compromised so after the lower heads went to clean up the mess I left behind, Jia had the apartment put up for sale, all ties now cut from it. As for myself, I had to spend the night in Jia's building. I slept in the lobby, my mp3 player keeping me company, but just one earphones in my ear. I learned that lesson from Toki. I woke up that morning as I heard someone coming in. I pulled my hair back from my face as I saw Gabriel walking in, him and Tai talking. I sat up completely, pulling my hair back as I yawned. They walked in as Gabriel said,
"Good morning Joryu."
"Good morning."
"How did you get in?"
"Jia let me in. Someone broke into my apartment last night."
Gabriel went over to me as he said,
"Are you okay?"
I nodded as I said,
"I'm fine. But until Jia gets another apartment I'll have to check into a hotel."
Gabriel nodded as he handed me his cup of coffee and said,
"Take it easy okay?"
I thanked him as he went ahead, Tai giving me a nod as they went upstairs. I took a sip of the coffee, grateful for it as Jia came in a little while later. Toki was with him, yawning as usual before he lit a cigarette. I got up and set the coffee down as I started gathering my coat together as I said good morning to Jia. He tucked his hair behind his ear as he said,
"How are you?"
"I'm okay. I want to leave so I can get a hotel room and take a shower or something."
He nodded as Toki said,
"Can I help?"
I looked away from him as he then smirked, exhaling a cloud of smoke as he said,
"Help you look for a room I mean."
Jia checked his watch as he said,
"Yeah Toki go with him. Everyone else will be here soon. I have to go see Tsubasa and Jiki later. And Aya. Oh and do me a favor, see who's standing guard for Aya and if it's Aoki tell him to switch with someone."
Toki nodded as he then notioned me to follow him.
I checked into Waldof, having the money to do so as I then went up to my room. Toki followed me the whole way there, saying he had to know what floor I was on and what room I was in just in case. At the door, I thanked him for looking out for me but I could handle the rest alone. He smirked, leaning against the doorway as he said,
"Kickin me out already?"
"I would have to invite you in to kick you out."
"So...let me in."
He had that glare in his eye again. It made me nervous. I said,
"Well..I have to shower because I have to go back to work soon...and I don't have time..."
I had a feeling anything I was saying was just being twisted into something sexual in his mind.
"You're so nervous."
"I am not."
"Yeah you are."
His fingers grazed over my face and I almost jumped out of my skin. He laughed as he said,
"Jumpy."
He had this strange way of being charming without even trying...and I didn't want him to get the wrong idea about me. I then said,
"Toki...please I have to-"
His fingers fell on my lips silencing me as he said,
"Ooo...you said my name and please in the same sentence...do it again."
I moved my face as I said,
"Go. I have to go back to work soon and so do you."
"I don't have to do anything."
He really didn't have to. Jia wasn't going to say anything to him. He leaned down slightly to my height since I was shorter then him as he kissed me. It was my first kiss from another guy. I usually only kissed Miya on the cheek and I've kissed girls before...but now this wasn't a guy...this was a man. A much older man that was very good at what he was doing and would get the wrong idea if I kissed back. So I remained motionless and he pulled back. He smirked as he said,
"It's like kissin Ghosto all over again."
His hand went up to my face tapping my chin as he turned away as he left. I meanwhile went to shower and got ready to go back to work.
Jia was trying to figure out what Sung Hyun was up to. Now that his wife was out of harms way, he was obviously back to his old tricks which is why he tried to send someone to get me. Everyone was well covered and they probably thought they could get rid of me because I was no one special. Jia told me that I should be careful.
"You were probably watched. We all probably are. But since we're more covered then you...it's probably why they went after you first."
I nodded as I stood in his office, my hair slightly damp from the shower I took earlier, in my suite, with my hands behind my back since I usually don't know where to put them. Toki was sitting at his usual place, the corner of Jia's desk, close to Jia so his foot was resting on the arm rest of Jia's chair. Toki smirked as he looked at me and I had to keep looking away and back at Jia. Just then the phone rang. Jia answered, having to move Toki's foot out of the way with an elbow as he picked up. He spoke for a few minutes as he shook his head, pulling back his hair as he finally hung up. He looked up at Toki as he said,
"Sung Hyun made his move. He tried to get in Aya's hospital room."
Toki exhaled as he said,
"Who was on guard?"
"Aoki was. I thought I told you to tell him to go."
"I did. Jun was suppost to take over."
"So where's Jun?"
Toki shrugged as he took out his cell phone and called him. After an argument with him, he finally hung up and said,
"Jun said he got there afterwards."
I then tucked my hair back as I said,
"Is Aya okay?"
"Yeah but now I have to find Gabriel and send him down to the police to spring Aoki."
"Why did they arrest Aoki?"
"He was there and he was found fighting someone. They arrested everyone involved."
Toki exhaled as he said,
"I'll get him."
He stood up and got off Jia's desk as he walked past me with a smirk and then left. Jia stood up himself, pulling up his coat as he got it on then picked up his cigarette case as he said,
"Come on, we have to go to the hospital."
"But...what about-"
"I'll see Gabriel on my way out and more then likely Toki will be with him, so come on."
I took out the car keys from my pocket as we both then left his office. In the lobby, Gabriel and Toki caught up to us.
"Gabriel, go get Aoki out. He's in the 54th street prescient. If there's some technical problem, spring him."
He went into his pocket as he took out some money and gave it to Gabriel and then he left. The three of us then left and went to see Aya.
Jun was waiting outside of his room. He explained what happened to Jia of course.
"Sung Hyun's men came down here. Two of them snuck up here. I caught the third one downstairs in the stairwell. The two that got up here caught a fistful of Aoki. Since it wasn't a quiet fight, hospital security came but you know how Aoki is. He broke two security guards noses and slammed another one into the wall. The police came at that point and they arrested him along with Sung Hyun's men."
"Well I sent Gabriel to get him out. Since it was just a fight they shouldn't keep him there too long. How is Aya?"
"Sleeping. He didn't hear a thing."
Jia smiled as he then went inside. Toki went in as well but I stayed outside with Jun.
"You look tired."
"I am a little."
Jun's hair fell over one side of his entire face, a soft brown color with honey highlights. He looked so young...I still wasn't over that. Even Aoki looked half his age though I knew he had to be much older if he started in the 36 Moons before Jia was the oyabun. I also heard Jun was once a legit doctor. Which explains why he took care of everyone medically wise. A nurse came to us as Jun stood in front of her and said,
"Excuse me."
"I'm Pretty Aya's nurse."
I recognized her as the nice woman that was there before and I said,
"She is."
Jun stepped aside as she knocked and then opened the door. Jun and I looked in as we saw Jia standing by his bed, talking to Aya as Toki held onto Aya's hand. The nurse came in and shooed them all away as she checked his vitals. Aya sat up as she checked his shoulder and she pulled down his hospital gown to look at the back of his shoulder. She tapped a bandage near the middle of his back as she said,
"Well everything is healing nicely. I guess if these fine gentlemen are here to pick you up then you can go."
"I can?"
She nodded as she then said,
"Let me get some release forms and I'll be right back."
She smiled as she left the room. Aya sighed as he said,
"Finally I can get out of here."
Jia nodded as he went to the closet and took out Aya's things, turning his cell phone back on as he said,
"Here. Might as well start getting ready."
Aya nodded as he sat up and started getting out of bed. Toki helped him up before the nurse came back and said,
"Here you go pretty one. Just sign here."
Aya signed the clipboard as he the nurse then left and closed the door behind her. Jun and I waited outside as we then heard a shout of pain. Jun and I looked at each other as Jia opened the door and walked out. Toki was carrying Aya in his arms since Aya couldn't walk. The nurse came back again as she said,
"Oh no! You don't have to carry him, we have a wheelchair for him."
An orderly brought around a wheelchair as Toki said,
"Nah, it's okay I don't mind."
He looked down at Aya who had his arm around his neck to keep from falling as he looked back up and smirked as he said,
"I really don't mind."
He turned and walked as we then left the hospital, Jia calling Tsubasa on his way out. They spoke for a moment as Tsubasa told him that Jiki had regained consciousness. Jia said he would be there in like half an hour since they just got Aya out of the hospital and they had to bring him to his apartment. When we got out Aya was still a little tired so he kept yawning, putting his head against Toki's shoulder as I pat his hand and said,
"Will you need anything when you get home?"
His hazel eyes peered open as he said,
"No...not anything...actually..."
He turned from me as he looked at Jia and said,
"Jia, where's Aoki?"
"He's in jail for now."
"What for?"
"Sung Hyun's men where trying to get to you. Jun and Aoki got them but Aoki was in a fight. So they arrested him. Don't worry I'm getting out now."
We got outside as I got the car open, Jia getting in first as Toki started helping Aya in the car when someone shouted,
"Wait! Wait!"
We all looked as we saw the same nurse running outside. She sighed heavily as she said,
"Thank goodness I caught you before you left. Doctors orders pretty one. You need to fill this prescription."
She handed him a piece of paper as she said,
"Try not to get you bandages wet okay love? You also need to change them within two days."
Aya nodded as she then waved him off as we all got in the car and left. We took Aya to his apartment first, dropping him off as Toki carried him upstairs. I think he really enjoyed that. Once he and Jun came back, I dropped Jun off at the building and then took Jia to see Jiki at the hospital. I parked and then walked with the both of them. We saw Tsubasa right away, the ningyo cloaked in black as usual, his dress pants and coat on, the coat open to show the black satin shirt underneath that was unbuttoned slightly. His hair fell in thick white and blonde waves, his black onyx cross resting on the pale skin of his chest. Jia went over to him, kissing his pale smooth cheek as he then said,
"Where's Jiki?"
"In his room. He's still down but he's awake. He's having a hard time moving a little though. His arms and legs feel heavy to him."
Jia nodded as he and Tsubasa then went. Toki stayed with me as Ai'iro went with them to stand as guard. Toki scoffed as he said,
"Hate that fuckin' ningyo."
I looked at him as I said,
"You hate Tsubasa?"
He nodded as he then looked at me as he put his arm around me and said,
"So...Joryu. What are you doing tonight?"
"Working more then likely."
"I mean once you're done."
"Sleeping..."
He leaned close to me, tucking my hair behind my ear as he said,
"I'll put you to bed baby. It'll be worth your while...I can make your toes curl."
I felt his tongue lick the crevice of my ear as I then moved away and crossed my arms in front of me. He just grinned as I then felt too embarrassed to look at him again. I stayed away from him for a while until Jia came back with Tsubasa. The pretty ningyo had Ai'iro standing beside him. They exchanged words once more until Jia kissed his cheek, his fingers brushing by the ningyo's pale face as we then left.
It was a few hours of doing nothing at Jia's building. I had nothing to do but study my English and listen to my mp3 player. Everyone else was assigned. I was about to just fall asleep on the couch from the boredom of not doing anything when I decided to stand up and stretch. Mikkie came out of the elevator a moment later, his hair pulled up as it had been lately, his suite still on. He looked over to me as he said,
"Hi. Still here?"
"Yeah for now."
He adjusted his coat slightly as I said,
"Mikkie...I have to ask you something."
"Oh?"
He turned towards me, still standing though. I then walked over to him, keeping a fair distance as I said,
"Remember when you said to keep my distance and ignore Toki?"
"Hai..."
"I did. But...he kissed me."
"What did you do?"
"I didn't kiss back. I just pushed him away."
"Good. I'll tell you one thing about Toki. He doesn't take no for an answer."
"Seriously..?"
"Seriously. Toki does not know the word no. If he wants anything, he'll get it willingly or by force. His reputation for sleeping with anything with a pulse is not made up or over exaggerated. Neither is the one about him being a rapist."
My jaw dropped.
"I can't guarantee he won't come after you...he's persistent too. But avoid being alone with him as much as you can. Because if he wants you he will nail you."
"But...he chases you-"
I stopped once he looked at me...he knew from personal experience. I bit my lip as he turned away and said,
"I have to go. I'll see you later."
He then walked away and left. I sighed feeling bad for even asking him in the first place. I sat down on the lobby couch again. A moment later Jia and Toki came out of the elevator arguing about something. Jia pulled his arm away from Toki, glaring at him before turning away. Toki got behind him, putting his arms around him as Jia laughed. I never saw him laugh before. I looked away as Jia then cleared his throat and said,
"Joryu why are you still here?"
"I don't know. Thought I might be needed."
He shook his head as he said,
"No, you can go."
I bowed my head before turning to leave as Jia then said,
"Oh, Joryu."
I turned back as I said,
"Hai?"
"Tomorrow....be prepared to fight okay? I finally found out what Sung Hyun's planning."
"Oh..."
"Be careful going back. I don't even feel right about sending you alone..."
He paused as Toki rested his chin on Jia's shoulder and said,
"Kid could share a cab with us."
"Good idea. Come on Joryu."
"Oh, no Jia, it's okay."
"I can't have you going out there alone. Not with Sung Hyun's crazy ass trying to kill anyone that works for me."
We went outside and hailed a cab as Jia got in first, then Toki and then myself. I sat and looked out the window as I heard Jia and Toki whispering to each other. I swear they seemed like a couple. I didn't want to look at then the whole way...especially because this was my boss here. I then felt Toki's hand on my thigh and I turned away from the window to look down as I saw Toki wasn't facing me. He was still paying attention to Jia. I moved his hand away and inched as close to the window as possible. I was never more grateful for the cab to stop at my hotel. I got out and Jia said for me to go ahead, he had my fare. I thanked him as I saw Toki smirk at me as he turned to say bye. I looked away as I went to my hotel, already preparing for the next day.
