STRYFE

Look OUT! Stryfe is in TOWN! Some more or Raman's wonderful lineart, colored by yours truely. Man, this took a while. Before starting this I had no idea how to handle metal... so I would start drawing it, erase everything, start again, try again... and so forth. Then one day I just went for it. It looked horrible. SOooooo... Stepped back, and edited what I already did, ran it through some filters (switched it to greyscale) then added highlights and shadow (basically re-coloring the whole thing) and there you have it. The finished product.
What really helped me though was Mr. Alex Ross' site, and one of his pictures... he's really good! Raman's hero... I didn't do justice to the lines, but Mr. Ross would've! I've added him to the links page too because of this picture above.
Okay, on the process... I did something very different this time around. I put colors on in Open Canvas... I really like the brushes for putting on color. Everything was smudged in Metacreation's Painter Classic... that program has the best 'smudger' in my opinion. Then it went to Paintshop Pro for some editing (color and filters) to fix up my mistakes... and to increase the contrast. For some reason I always bump up the contrast on the stuff I draw... I can never get it right off the bat. Then it went back to Painter for some airbrushing for the highlights, and shadows, and red backlighting. Finally it went back to OC for adding some details, drawing the eyes, and general fixin'. This was fun. Enjoy!
