~~~SPRING RAIN~~~
How soothing are the gentle rains of spring a mesmerizing fall a languid patter fruitful clouds they bring sweet music to us all Feathered divas sing their praise to living hope eternal rings fat lazy drops of heaven's tears are giving life their offerings Ringing music fills the air with green suspense fresh miracle of birth As fragrant showers nurture there I sense awakening of the Earth
Dead of Winter
I see wild white roses springing from the winter's freeze From dead brown branches blooms of gold and sapphire grace the trees In the waning frigid light auroras shimmer, dance on air Lilting fairy laughter gilds the frozen splendor there Time in hybernation waits shrouds of diamonds keep the earth in suspended unreality Nature's regal prelude to the coming emerald birth |
HARVEST
Now are gathered fruits of labor summer's lushest bounty reap from brimming vines once laden prepare their limbs for winter's sleep
The slanting light more precious now its warmth elusive- quick escaped strange nights rimed with harvest chill bare fields in pumpkin moonlight draped
Sleepy sunflowers hang their heads exhausted by the summer's glory and roses shed their ballroom gowns for the telling of the autumn story
Cascades of leaves with whithered sighs loose their hold on tired bough indignant swirls like broken wings on russet knee surrender now
All nature drawn within herself prepares to weather harshest storm surrounded by her harvest bounty fruits of summer keep her warm |
FALL
SHORTER DAYS AND CHANGING LEAVES CRISP GOOD MORNINGS IN LONG SLEEVES
GRINNING PUMPKINS, FROSTY NIGHTS AND FOOTBALL GAMES ARE FALL'S DELIGHTS
THE SCENT OF WOODFIRE, HONK OF GEESE A LAST HURRAH 'FORE WINTER'S PEACE. |
THE BREAK
IN GRIM PARADE WITH JAGGED SIGH THE RIVER ICE COMES FLOATING BY LAST VESTIGES OF WINTER'S GRIP A MILLION SHARDS OF CRYSTAL SHIPS IN SILENT MARCH TO WARMER SHORES PATROL THE BANKS OUTSIDE MY DOOR ICEBERG TROOPS ON DEATHWATCH FILE ONWARD TO MEET THEIR FINAL MILE WITH RESTRAINED POWER THE MASSIVE FLOES CREAK SOUTHWARD AS THE RIVER GOES. |
Summer's Easing
A quiet easing summer's end cicada's song and warm days in heady blend senses teasing shadows stretching long as old Sol's rays guide there the undulating vees of excited winter geese tired trees prepare for their last show finest hours' grand release a passion play the bees in frantic desperation drink to excess from lush flowers and they too in their final throes don fancy dress parading in full glory with one last burst it passes slowly fading summer's story
Storm an angry swirling wind spins the air in live confusion a moving geographic plane sucking out and gasping in and I am snatched up fast in some paisley delusion of undulating life and death demon's breath spills the violent rain at last stabbing like a knife deep into a vein blinding flashes heavy pound seem fraught with unholy inspiration darkly mesmerizing earthward slashes horror wound bound tight this night in a swirling conflagration this deepest swollen crucible a terrorizing hell of sight and sound.
At Water's Edge
At water's edge, the Summer lingers loathe to end the halcyon hours lest some warmth slip through her fingers yeilding soon to Autumn's powers drunken bees meander lazy songbirds call their last farewells floating high on Summer's hazy sunlight...fading fast the spell sounds of industry emerge to stock the Winter stores gather fast... her final surge 'fore Summer fastens tight her doors |
