About Miniature Schnauzers
The Miniature Schnuzer is a robust, active dog of terrier type, resembling his larger cousin, the Standard Schnauzer, in general appearance, and of alert, active disposition.  He is sturdily built with plenty of bone and without any suggestion of toyishness.

The typical Miniature Schnauzer is alert and spirited, yet obedient to command.  He is friendly, intelligent and willing to please.  He should never be over-aggressive or timid.  Their size ranges from 13 - 15 inches and 14 - 20 pounds.  They make a keen watchdog, NOT guarddog, but are usually polite with everyone.

The best Miniature Schnauzers are very smart and capable of learning a great deal, but they must be taught at an early age that they are not the rulers of the world.  You must show them, through absolute consistency, that you mean what you say.  Miniature Schnauzers are great with children, elderly and other family pets - - though he may chase the family cat for fun, he's seldom serious about it.

This breed is adaptable, makes an excellent traveling companion, and even if slightly spoiled, doesn't take as much advantage of it as many other terriors.  They can be barky, though.  They will be happy running 10 acres or in a car while you travel cross-country.  when your ready to walk they'll turn into a ball of energy.  when you want to take a nap, they are your very own couch potato.  Schnauzers do not shed so you won't have to clean fur off of your furniture.  Your Miniature Schnauzer will think it's his job to let you know if someone is approaching, and then becomes the designated greeter.  And of course everyone comes specifically to see him.  You will not find a more loyal and constaint companion than in your new Miniature Schnauzer.
We hope that you enjoy your new puppy!
