Hmm. Brock's Ninetales. This Ninetales has an incredible "Will 'O The
Wisp" attack... (Laughs Out Loud)
Of course, its Pokemon Power is interesting. VERY interesting. And... it is interesting for only one reason. It can be comboed with a brilliant Brock card. Yep... Brock's Protection. Suddenly the Metals on your shapeshifted Steelix can't be removed. Another card that is Shapeshift worthy, is Misty's Gyarados. Read the Pokemon Power well: "It can't evolve, devolve, or _use the Pokemon Power of that Pokemon_." (Underline this please) That is so cute of you, Ninetales =D So it should be, like, a GOD card in Standard, right? OMG, NO! I repeat, NO! What's the problem? Heh, STATUS EFFECTS. If you inflict a Status effect other than Poison, you must discard all Evolution cards from this Pokemon. "Come on, status effects aren't that big..." LOL. I know of a BABY pokemon that can make you asleep for 1 colorless energy... *grins* I know of another BABY that does 20 to all Pokemon that have a Pokemon Power. I know of yet another BABY that shuts off ALL Pokemon Powers... Another problem is that... erm... you have to evolve from Brock's Vulpix, which is _slightly_ FTKOable. *ends sarcastic tone* Although, Hypnotic Gaze is a nice attack... But let's do that in another COTD :D. Of course, so far I've only talked about Standard. You'll see the reasons in a jiffy :) Standard Rating: 7/10 In spite of all the problems listed above, this card is definitely usable in Standard. A shapeshifted Steelix can be impossible to KO. I really do mean impossible. Annihilating Super Energy Removal from your opponent in this format is an angelic blessing :) Heh... if you don't have Status Effects, that is. Which, in the world of Standard, you usually don't :) But the Vulpix, I stress, IS easily FTKOable or OHKOable :( Hmm. Modified Rating: N/A Heh, it's illegal here lol. And even if it weren't, it would be basically useless. Booster Draft Rating: 2/10 Erm. This is a rare card which for once is not even WORTH drafting. If you want to get out a Stage 1 or a Stage 2, it's usually not hard to find its previous evolution cards as well. I would just evolve it from its natural basics, thank you very much. Late Sidenote: Heh. You're surprised at the length of my COTD review, right? Well, so am I ^_^ |

Even now, I am resisting the urge to type "Ninetails". You are not using Brock's
Ninetails (whoops!) I mean, NINETALES, for its attack. RR for 30 is decent, but
doesn't pack a lot of power. No, you are using this to exploit the Pokemon
Power. Being able to attach other evolution cards to Brock's Ninetails is very
strong, because, being that Brock's Ninetales is a Brock's Pokemon, you can
attach Brock's Protection to it, rendering it totally immune to
ER/SER/Whirlpool/similar attack. In Standard, I can see this being used with
Steelix or Tyranitar, so that the Dark/Metal energy is protected and you're
KO'ing Pokemon left and right.
Largely, the weaknesses of this card are the weaknesses of the Pokemon it's
attached to. Not being able to copy Pokepowers is bad, but you can make up for
it by using no-power evolutions. If you get this in booster draft, consider
yourself lucky.
RATINGS: MMF: N/A Unlimited: 7.0 Booster Draft: 5.0 (Better if it were UC, but as a Rare, I don't think you're gonna get one.) |

This is my favorite card. You can attach any evolution to it. The best
combo with it is Brock's Protection so that it can't be ERed or SERed. Some
good evolutions are Arcanine, Tyranitar, Clefable and any other card that has
a big energy cost for big damage.
Brock's Ninetales strengths are against grass decks, Rocket's Zapdos(Clefable
evolution), and just about anything. Its weaknesses are status effects.
Sleep, confuse, paralyze, and poison you can handle with a switch but you
lose the evolution. Muk decks screw Tales. So does Magby.
Standard(Unlimited) 9/10

This card is hard to play with but I love this card Jermy 101 plays a
Brocks Ninetails T Tar deck with Brocks Protection and it works quite well.
Since they cant removal T Tar ive also seen this card and Brocks Protection
in Wiggly decks (I dont think it works as well as T tar).
Standard 3.0 (muk and igglybuff shut it down=/) |

Hmm........ Lets see this card can work both ways!! A great card yet again a bad card. Lets start off with its Poke Power SHAPESHIFT!! It actually is a pretty good Pokemon Power. (Brocks Pokemon DUH!!) Okay well it can change to any type of pokemon as long as it is a evolution. This poke power is a great way to put a really high stage pokemon (Level 2 mostly) and build it really quickly!! Example... Tyranitar is a great example. (Mostly Played with in this type of deck strategies!). Its pokemon power is a great way also to take massive amounts of damage and then on your turn you can discard it taking away all damage. The only downfall is when Brock's Ninetales takes status effects and that is when it must be discarded!! Decks that would work great with this card is of course Tyranitar deck (Duh!!),
Marcargo deck, and Typholosion decks! And now to the attack WILL-O'-THE-WISP it is a decent attack for a stage one pokemon. Just for two fire energies it can do up to 30 damage!! Great for ko-ing babies if you can get those heads. Oh!! And with the help with BROCK'S PROTECTION you can't have your energy cards taken away from you at all times until knocked out!!
The only one weakness or actually a few is that its mostly weakness to water. Yet when playing a evolution card make sure that the card isn't a weakness from you opponents pokemon. That is also another downfall of the poke-power. I am mostly seeing alot of water now with Kingdra so if this card gets played then you better have a nonweakness to water!! Example....(Elekid is a great card for fighting against water). Might want to add some in there. But also add a few other cards like or trainers that can help you out like DOUBLE GUST. Help kill those water or any other threat as quick as possible so they won't have much time to build up their pokemon. In STANDARD i give it a 3 due to some play!! (Tyranitar DUH!!) In MODIFIED i give it a 5 because there are more options on what evolutions to play to help your gaming experience more worthwhile. In DRAFTING i really haven't played it, but i would give it a 6 because it's has a great power to help with evolutions and can build really quickly. Well peeps this is my first COTD review and hopefully it helped!! Let me know how i did and until then i will try my best to help everyone as much as i can! You can reach me at [email protected]. Please no viruses! I know who you are if you give me one!! Thank you and Laters! |

This card is awesome. It is total tech. But first lets go through some of
the facts. This card is from Gym 2 Series. The 70 HP is ok but who really
needs it when you are evolving it into other monsters. 2 Fire Energys for 30
isnt the greatest but once again when you are evolving it into better
creatures who really gets aggravated by it. The main thing that makes this
card broken is its poke power(duh:/). I mean seriously I could talk about
combos for pages and pages but I will just say the main ones.In
Standard(Unlimited) Wiggly is the most popular I saw Neo 3 Kabutops and
Jungle Pidgeot too ;/(Tyrogue would usually be the downfall of wiggly). In
Mf(Old Modified) It was insane I saw Steelix,Neo3 Kabutops, and even
Tyranitar ;x. People were just getting anialated by these decks. But sadly
there is no trace of it in Mmf(New Modified). This thing could metagame
everything which made it virtually indestructable.(That is as long as you
got everything you needed out on time). The only downfall of this card in
standard was the famous turbo toise deck. In mf what stopped this was the
overplayed Feraligatr decks. Too Bad Iggly trashes the idea sometimes. All
in all this card pwns.
Standard Rating-9.5(1 Word Pwnage)

In spite of having a relatively weak basic this stage one has awesome
potential. Its attack is no great shakes but its Pokemon Power is the bomb!
Shapeshift allows you to transform this fire poke into any stage 1 or 2 poke
you have in your deck! The only limitation, is that you must abide by that
pokes energy requirement. (This aint a Ditto!) One VERY nice combo card
for this deck is Brocks Protection, which makes ER and SER ineffective...A
lovely effect in Unlimited =D. That would allow you to successfully use
pokes like Tyranitar that otherwise would be devastated by ER. The combo
may be difficult to get up and a powerful card drawing engine is needed for
this card to be successful.
Ratings: Unlimited 8/10 (with Brocks Protection)

Brock's Ninetales is a very strong card if used correctly. If you wanna be able to use
this card successfully, then you have to use all the combos that help it out. One of the
biggest disruption cards is the removal cards. The reason why Steelix is not played as
often in unlimited is because of it getting ser'd and er'd, but if u use brock's protection
then no one can defend against the powerful steelix. The only thing that makes this card
somewhat weak is poison, and paralize. If this card gets these effects then the evolution
played on it gets discarded. This card is sometimes underated by people, but the card
can be easily countered so is not considered a big threat.
