Started in February of 2000, as an outreach and ministry to the local commuity, Emmanuel's gospel choir has grown to 65 members!  About 2/3 of the choir are French and the other third come from Emmanuel's expatriot community.  The direction is in French and English, but the songs are "black" gospel music.  The choir director is Cecelia Stearman, and the pianist is Scott Sontag.

The Choir participated in its first concert on May 28.  The city of Rueil-Malmaison had orgaized a "Fete de la Choral" in which four choirs were invited to sing.  Emmanuel's choir was a grand success, and received a warm welcome from the community. (photos coming soon) The enthusiastic response was a real lift to the choir members, many of who had never sung in such a concert before.

Upcoming performances of the choir are June 11, at the 9:45, 11:00, and 18:30 services of Emmanuel Baptist Church.  The choir will also be performing locally during the fete de la musique, location will soon be announced.
