Terry's Famous Lasagne

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 lb. ground pork
1 large onion, chopped1/2 bell pepper, diced
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. ground oregano
1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
3 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 (4 oz.) can mushrooms, drained
2 eggs
2 c. cottage cheese
3/4 lb. Mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 or 3 slices Velveeta, torn
1 large pkg. lasagne noodles

     In large saucepan, add tomato sauce, paste, stewed tomatoes, bell pepper, and 1/2 of chopped onion, plus all the seasonings.  Simmer on low. Total sauce time is about 45 minutes.

     Meanwhile, brown beef and pork and remaining onion.  Drain; add to sauce.  In large bowl, add cottage cheese, Mozarrella cheese, and eggs, mixing with hands.  Cook noodles in boiling water until tender; drain.

     In 9x13x2 inch baking dish, coat bottom with a little sauce.  Add one layer of noodles, then a layer of sauce, then cheese mixture.  Place torn Velveeta in various places every other layer.  Keep layering to top.  Cover with foil.  Cook at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.  Let stand 5 minutes.                   -Terry Rinehart
