Regents Park School, Southampton
...is where I spent some of the best years of my life!  I loved this school!  Okay, you probably think I'm mad for liking school, but this one was seriously good.  It's a girls secondary school, the pupils are aged 11-16.  There are many feeder schools, such as Shirley Junior, Oakwood Junior, Foundry Lane and Tannersbrook (all primary schools in Southampton).  I left five years ago now, but I still try and go back and visit - the teachers are like my friends.  My sister went through the school, and has now left.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
The exam succeses of Regents Park Girls are always increasing.  Okay, I was almost the top in the year, but there were many more like me.  At GCSE I got:
5 A*, 6 A and 1 B grade.
For many years now the results have been the best or amoungst the best in Southampton.
MUSIC
If you haven't already guessed from my other pages, I have always loved music.  Ever since I was little I've been in the school choir.  Regents Park is very fortunate to have a strong music department, headed by Miss Kate Drummond.  There are three concerts in the school hall every year, as well as the Christmas carol Concert at Shirley Baptist Church.  Being part of the Junior (Years 7, 8 and 9) and Senior (Years 10 & 11) choirs during my time there, I performed in many such concerts.  I also played 2 piano solos - I did my Grade 4 piano in the Easter before my GCSEs.  I haven't played much since, but I intend to play more now!
THE BUILDING
Regents Park School is a very old school and has been there since the turn of the century.  The main building is very old.  Whilst I was there, there were two phases of building - one was to make a new corridor on top of an existing one storey building and another to make an entire new building to replace the huts (we were sad to see them go, they had been there "temporarily" for 20 years) but the brand spanking new 3-floor building was great!  My tutor base had been in the huts, so at the very end of year 10 before the summer break we inherited a room in the nice new building!(see right).  I think the school intends now to build a new swimming pool and gym - there's always something to do!
THE TEACHERS
I can honestly say that all the teachers at Regents Park are excellent, and think of their pupils a lot.  To all the teachers who ever taught me there, THANK YOU!  I don't know if they'll find this, but they deserve a pat on the back for putting up with me!  If I've left anyone out, please forgive me!
