Africa University Trip, 2002
Old Mutare, Zimbabwe
My most recent international trip was to Africa University from Aug. 2-17, 2002. I travelled there with 11 other people from Illinois and Indiana. Our main objective was to establish informal relationships with students at the university and more formal relationships with university administrators. While at the university, we participated in 2 work projects-- building sidewalks and painting, and we also spent considerable amounts of time across the valley at the orphanage at the Old Mutare Mission.

In our free time, we sang in the university choir and attended worship services. We also climbed a mountain across from the university to get a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Our final days in Zimbabwe were spent doing tourist activities -- we visited Victoria Falls and also went on 2 safaris in the Hwange Nature Reserve.
