Culture and Tradition...

The Viennese have many traditions and an incredibly rich culture. Going to the opera is very popular, and quite a treat. Operas by Verdi, Mozart, Wagner, Beethoven, and others are performed nightly, with accompaniment by the Vienna Philharmonic. Nothing's finer!

             State Opera House

Another long-standing tradition is that of the coffee house. Patrons choose from an overwhelming variety of coffees -- the most famous of which is the Melange -- and are served by waiters in tuxedos. Customers are welcome to stay as long as they like and read their favorite newspaper, play cards or chess, or simply sit and talk with friends. And let me tell you, the pastries which accompany the coffee are out of this world!
