| I have not given the Japanese enough credit for their, er...clever adaptations of English vocabulary. For instance, stobu from "stove" has become "stinky kerosene heater" while wan pisu from "one-piece" means "dress." They`re great if you enjoy playing Six Degrees of the English Language, but such words are generally incomprehensible to native English speakers. I found a new appreciation for them, however, when I learned that ba-codo, derived from "barcode," means "combover." Ahh. |
