Nugget of Joy
I`ve been asked to use the Oral Communication book, Hello There!, in class this year.  Read the following dialogue - out loud with a friend is best - and just guess when I fell over laughing.
Chapter 2 My Interests
Megumi:  What did you do on the weekend?

Bob:  I practiced with my band.

M:  You`re in a rock band?

B:  Yes.  We`re called the Hot Tomatoes.

M:  What instrument do you play?

B:  I play the drums.  They`re cool.  We also have a keyboard player, two guitarists, and a lead singer.

M:  What kind of music do you play?

B:  Rhythm and blues, Beatles songs, and Japanese pop songs.

M: Great!  Can I come and see you next time?

B:  Sure.  Next Saturday at two in the AV room.

M:  Thanks.  See you then.
*Addendum*

For another layer of comedy, "AV" in Japan refers to "Adult Video."  I found this out when discussing my final student job as an AV monkey, driving AV equipment around campus in a largely windowless van, within earshot of a dishevelled, ungainly, and porn-indebted Japanese English teacher.
