PATTY THE PROTON
Welcome to Patty's personal page!  We are glad you came to visit. This page will tell you all about our wonderful friend Patty!  We hope you enjoy......
PATTY THE PROTON
Patty is classified as a Baryon.  She is composed of three quarks, two up quarks and one down quark.  You can find Patty in the nucleus, she lives with her good friend Ned the Nuetron.  She is always very happy, and positive.  Patty has the mass of one AMU (atomic mass unit) which is equal to 1.6726231 x 10 to the negative 27th.  So as you can tell Patty is pretty small.

I WONDER WHO DISCOVERED PATTY.....
Way back in the 19th century, some scientists were trying out some new experiments with high voltage electric currents and putting them through gas tubes that were filled with low pressure gas, the cathode rays took the electric current and brought it from one cathode to the other anode.  In 1897 J.J. Thompson tried many experiments. With the resultas,  Robert Milikan discovered that electrons have a mass of 9.10 x 10 to the twentith power.  From this he concluded that since atoms are not negativly charged, that somewhere there had to be a positive charge and that the electron is much smaller then the atom so there must be something else with a bigger mass in there.
PATTY WANTS TO THANK ALL OF YOU FOR VISITING HER OWN PERSONAL PAGE! AND SHE HOPE YOU WILL COME AGAIN SOON!
BACK TO HOME.......BYE PATTY!!
