| Mythological Cycle | ||||||||
| The Mythological Cycle is the first legends of Irish history. The Filids took these stories and passed them down over thier generation. In early Ireland traditions and folklore was passed on orally because there were no written documents. It was the Bards to document all events that took place. These events were often retold in the poems and songs written by the Bards. In 500 A.D. these oral histories were documented for the first time. This urge to record information was brought upon by Christianity in Ireland. Even though these stories are based on real events, they have been passed and re-told so many times that the truth has been distored. |
