This room has been designed for the problematic cases. The room is rather small with
padded soft walls so that the prisoners would not hurt themselves when they
sit in there. The ones put in there are always put into a strait-jacket and the lights
in the room are switched off. William Wharton and Percy Wetmore were the
only ones put in here during the novel. Wharton was there 1 + 2 days and Wetmore
about 12 hours. The room is a very effective way of punishing the prisoners. Even
Wharton was affraid of it!
