Landed another one... I tracked down one of the newest Lakers, Tracy Murray, and threw a few questions in front of him. Here is our Q&A: DB: "How has your rehab been going? It was reported that you could return to full strength by late August or early September. Do you feel close to full strength?" Murray: "My hip is doing great and I'm right on schedule with the rehab process. I really look forward to helping the Lakers to number four!" DB: "What have you been able to do as far as preparing for and learning the Triangle offense?" Murray: "The triangle offense is perfect for me because there are two guys which require double teams and if the opponent double teams them, there's enough spacing where I can make the opponent pay with a couple of 3 point bombs." DB: "You've been known as one of the best in the league from distance. What would you say are some of the other, unsung skills you bring to the table?" Murray: "Some of of the unsung things I bring are leadership, experience, another scorer (people think I can only shoot), a winning attitude and someone who is coming to his homeland hungry for another championship." DB: "Finally, it seems that with a big man like Shaq, and the kind of offense this team runs, that the Lakers are ideally suited to your game. What is your assessment of how well you will fit both offensively and defensively?" Murray: "This is the first time in my career that I get to play with two great players which enables me to have more room to operate. Normally when I step on the floor the focus goes to me because I have always been a threat to put up big numbers. Now with the Lakers, I can put up quiet numbers to relieve the pressure off of Shaq and Kobe. I've never been able to shoot with this much time. This should be my best shooting season in my career." I like his enthusiasm and the last thing he says about his best shooting season. I can't wait to see him on the floor with Shaq to see what kind of open looks he can knock down. I wish he could have provided some assessment about the defensive end, but I will take what I can get.
