~*~ Liv's perspective ~*~
This shit was serious. I knew who had been on that phone
torturing my best friend. The only man in the world, besides Kevin, that could
make Sam break a sweat at the sound of his voice. Dean. That bastard. You would
have thought after she'd 'paid her dues' he'd have let her be. And him just
popping up into her life like this had her really messed up. She didn't know
what he wanted, which could've been anything. When I walked into her bathroom
she was huddled in a corner, totally hysterical. No matter what I tried to tell
her she would not stop crying. Even when I managed to get her back to my place
she was still drowning in tears. I didn't know what to do so I called Kevin in
another room.
"Hello?"
"Kevin?"
"Yes, this is him."
"Hi, it's Liv."
"Oh. Hey."
"Look, Sam is really upset..."
"What happened? What's wrong?" His once calm and collected
voice was now on edge.
"Could you just come over to my place? She really needs
you..."
~*~ Kevin's perspective ~*~
Liv gave me directions to her place and I got over there as fast
I could. Just the way Liv had spoken to me on the phone... I knew something was
the matter. I was without a doubt worried for Samantha's well being. I mean, I
was in love with her and it was the most honest to God feeling I'd felt in a
while. I loved being with Samantha. I wanted to know what the fuck was going on.
That was my only demand when Liv's front door swung open. I guess I scared her
because she jumped back.
"I can only tell you a little.... you'll have to try and get
the rest out of Sam."
Liv took a deep breath, "Sam and me both went to New York during
college. I went to NYU and she went to Juliard to do her dance thing. Well she
meets this jackass named Dean and you know from the start I didn't like him. I
told her not to get too involved with this guy, 'cause he was the type you just
could tell was up to no good--" we both saw the light in Liv's bedroom
flip off. "Look, I'll tell you later, ok? Just go see about her."
I walked into the room and Samantha was lying on the bed. The
room was silent and I could hear her crying. "Sam," I said and got
down on my knees in front of the bed. Samantha looked up at me and sighed.
"I didn't know you were here."
"I just got here," I explained wiping her tears away.
She quieted down a little. It broke me apart to see her like this. And I needed
to know why she was so frightened. "Do you wanna tell me about this guy
Dean?"
"He's after me for money..." she buried her face in a
pillow and resumed sobbing.
"Why?" I rubbed her back and she quieted again.
"I don't know," she sniffled, "I don't know what
to do! I don't know how he
found out where I was.... I'm so scared, Kevin.... can you just.... hold
me?" I climbed onto the bed beside her and pulled her close. Slowly, she
stopped shaking and put her arms around me and squeezed me so tight I thought she
was going to snap my ribcage. "I don't want him to hurt me... again."
Her last word broke in the air. I kissed her.
"No one is going to hurt you Samantha. I’m here."
"Please don't leave me."
"I wont."
"And.. and don't let me go."
