thought groggily, not quite sure which side of the bed on which he was, and not sure if rolling right would send him onto the floor, or
back toward the center of his bed. He rolled anyway, not really caring if he fell, and opened his eyes. What he got was not the
carpet, but the sight of Marlowe, in her jeans and another T-shirt, sleeping in the corner of his room. He didn't know if he should be
afraid for her or afraid of her. Only one way to find out, came the slightly slurring voice in his head. He climbed out of his bed and
crawled over to Marlowe slowly, not wanting to wake her just then. "Hey kid. Marlowe, are you asleep?" he whispered, tapping her on
the shoulder. Marlowe's brown eyes fluttered open and went wide. "Oh shit!" she cried, jumping up and hugging the wall tightly. Her
eyes reflected some sort of fear, but of what he couldn't be certain. "Whoa! Hold up!" He said, backing away a bit, "what's wrong?"
Marlowe slid along the wall until she was at the door. She gave the bed a strange look before turning around and slamming her door
shut.
"Hey Marlowe, you wanna explain why you were in my room this morning?" AJ said loudly, knocking on Marlowe's door. Suddenly,
the door popped open, and Marlowe pushed past him, loping down the stairs to the kitchen. I swear if she doesn't tell me what her
deal is in 5 seconds, I'm gonna- "Sometimes I miss my family, you know? So I must've sleep walked into your room or somethin'" she
said, grabbing an apple from the fruit bowl and taking a big bite. "I mean, you got nothin' to worry about from me," came from in
between hungy munching sounds.
*More coming soon!*
