| Klondike Gold Rush- Seattle WA |
| This little gem is right in Pioneer's Square right in the middle of downtown Seattle. To be completely honest, I visited Seattle on at least 5 or 6 occasions before finding time to visit this museum. I'll be blunt with you right now, parking is a royal pain in the butt. I wound up parking by one of the 15 minute meters right outside the building and kept running out every few minutes to plunk more quarters in. Since I spend over an hour and a half there, you can imagine there was some frantic running involved. The museam is well kept and interesting. There are some genuine articles kept from the era of the gold rush. In case you don't know about it, Seattle was the 'gateway' to start the trek to Alaska in search of gold. There are photographs and even movies available to watch. I spent quite a bit of time there and could have spent even more if I hadn't run out of quarters. Even if you aren't that interested in National Parks I think you'll find this museam entertaining and informative. There's no entrance fee so you don't feel obligated to stay longer then you want to to 'get your money's worth.' When you do go, make your way to the picture that line the back wall. There's a picture of a man who was responsible for major funding at the time of the gold rush. Take a good look at him. He could be Bill Gate's twin. It's really quite freaky! Rating: *****! |
