What's the difference between a frog and a toad?
... All toads actually are frogs!
              Frog
When we usually think of frogs we think of a frog like in the picture above. These frogs are in the Ranidae family.

These frogs have the following characteristics:

-Two bulging eyes

-Long, strong, webbed hind feet that are adapted for leaping and swimming.

-smooth or slimy skin

-Frogs tend to lay eggs in clusters.

Frogs from this family can be found in every continent except Antarctica. They are referred to as 'true frogs' because of generalized body form and life history.

              Toad
When we think of a toad we think of one in the picture above. These toads are in the Bufonidae family.

These types of frogs have the following characteristics:

-Stubby bodies with short hind legs. (for walking instead of hopping)

-Warty and dry skin.

-Paratoid or poison glands behind the eyes.

-Toads tend to lay eggs in long chains.

True toads an be found worldwide except in Australia, polar regions, Madagascar, and Polynesia.
