Ugs

Screen Doors And What's chasing me

My wife and I live with a cat by the name of Ugs. How she got that name is another story suffice it to say she is ugly.

When we first brought her home she was nine weeks old. She was a handful and had a personality of her own. She has always been an indoor cat, and does not like to go outdoors. The summer of 2004 my wife and I decided to stay at our trailer. Ugs would sit at the sliding door that also had a sliding screen door, which was left open most days. My wife asked if it would be a good idea to let Uggs out onto the deck. I said I don't see why not. We put her in a harness, and tied her to the railing of the deck. This gave her enough cord to just reach the screen door.

Ugs was not at all happy about this and let us know, by meowing and trying to reach for the screen door.

I said to her Oh stop it stay out and get some fresh air. She didn't seem to want to do that. My wife said let her in then. Well I like to teas Ugs for all the times that she has pissed me off. I said leave her out for a little while longer. My wife said she was going in to get lunch ready, and slid the screen door open, and closed it behind her, but the door was open just a tad. Uggs saw this and slipped her paw through the opening, and as my wife had done she opened the screen door. I saw this and laughed because she could not go inside the cord was holding her back.

Ugs had opened the door about three feet, and was tugging to try to get inside the trailer. I slid the door closed she slid the door open again. I decided to go inside to see what would happen, and slid the door complete closed. Ugs worked at it for a few seconds and finally slide the door open again, this time she held on to the side of the screen door and gave me a look as if to say I want the door open and I want to come in. I had to tease her some more. I pushed her paw away from the door, and closed the door again. You know what they say if looks could kill well....

Ugs sat there for a few seconds and started pawing at the door again, and finally got it open. Now with a look of defiance she glared at me and growled.

I pushed her paw away again and closed the door.

Not being one to give up easily she came back and stuck her paw in the side of the screen door and slid it open again. After all this my wife said enough and took the cat in. When she put her down Ugs was gone like the wind into the bedroom and under the bed.

Later that same day  we were sitting on the deck having dinner, and saw something go flying by inside the trailer. My wife said what was that "I don't know I replied."

Then again we saw it go by going the other way, and it had a sckeege swiwsssiswis kind of sound. We looked at each other with surprised looks on our faces. Then it went by again in the opposite direction, this time we had a good look at it.

It was Ugs running to and for from the bedroom to the living room and back again. Only there was something chasing her. Oh my God had another animal some how gotten in the trailer. No it was a plastic grocery bag. The bag had some how gotten tangled on to Ugs tail. I would imagine she had been lying on the bag and got herself twisted around, and the bag had it's handles snagged on her tail.

As she ran back and fro the movement would fill the bag with enough air and it would trail behind her making a lot of noise. A noise Ugs did not like as was evident in her silver dollar sized eyes. She was running away from this beast that was chasing her and it was relentless. Even though Ugs was spitting, meowing and growling at this thing it would not leave her alone. I grabbed her on one of passes and took the bag off her rear end. Set her down and we didn't see her till the next day.

One of Ugs favorite things is to lie on plastic to cool off in the summer months. Even after that experience she still does it. But move a plastic bag around and make the noise from that day and she is gone. She disappears for a good while.

Being that I love to tease her I will some times shake a plastic bag when she is in the kitchen just to get her some exercise.

Oh and if you think that is mean well my wife does it too.
