The Day the Sky Stood Still
The day the sky stood still started as any other,
The sky was blue and clear, but we would soon discover
For great evil came our way and the horror that would follow.
For who could ever guess what lurked beyond the clouds?
It was evil at it's worst coming to destroy our land.
And before we really knew it, we saw evil eye to eye.
The terror we would experience would soon spread from land to land.
So the ugly beast arrived to sacrifice our own,
For the sake of hate and crime, to spread mayhem here below.
We saw it from above. It came swiftly and stealthily,
And low, as it shattered with a blow, and no mercy for our souls.
Oh, the heartache so unimaginable as the pain cut through our souls.
Did it really all just happen, or is it just a horror show?
As we tried to help our wounded, we mouned the ones we lost,
For we knew it in an instant, many of them would be no more.
As a loud cry from God's children reached the heavens high above
And as God cradled the beast's victims, he then turned to them and said,
"You will be with me forever, and you will see them all some day.
But for you my dear sweet children, no more sorrow, mor more pain."
As the angels watched in sadness, God was weeping for His own.
They all knew his heart was broken for the ones left here below.
So the skies stood in such stillness, for we feared the beast's return,
But we said "We must have freedom", to the skies we must return!"
You attacked our glass and mortar, and you brought it to the ground.
Did you know we could rebuild them? Do you know we probably will?
Did you know we have great heroes who gave their lives for freedom's sake.
You have killed God's precious children now there will be a price to pay
For you see, we are America, and America prevails.
Americans have a great heart for freedom and such love for our Motherland.
So just watch closely as she recovers under God's so loving hand.
And the Nations! They come forward with one voice to let us know,
Saying "Let's all unite together to eradicate the foe!"
So let's all hold hands together, all for freedom here and there,
And ask for wisdom from our Father, for our leaders everywhere.
For what evil failed to see is that good will always win,
And when evil is defeated, victorious we will end!
As the sleeping lion awakens, and on angels wings she soars,
"For America the Beautiful, Under God's Protection Roars!"
