Andrea's Children

In January 1999, I was told to expect my 3rd grandchild, due to my youngest
daughter Andrea.

At a 14 weeks of pregnancy she advised the midwife she had flu symptoms and was
told to take a painkilling tablet.

The day after she started to bleed slowly, and she was admitted to hospital with
a raging temperature.

The baby Ashley was born/died on 26th March 1999. It was also my eldest
granddaughter's birthday.

I found it so difficult to be happy for my granddaughter in one room, and crying
in another room for the loss of another grandchild.

It was revealed after blood tests she had contracted TOXOPLASMOSIS -probably
from a cat she had at the time.

Six months later, Andrea was pregnant again, and all was fine until 19 weeks
when the bleeding started again.

During this time my other daughter had informed me that she was pregnant as
well.

On going to the hospital Andrea was told she could come home. This decision was
wrong! She should have been admitted for bed rest, as I had gone through the
same thing with Andrea at the early stage of 6 weeks, and she survived.

Three days later it became obvious that the baby was coming. At 20 weeks KIRSTY
was born/died on 8th February 2000.

I inquired about having her christened, and was told she could only have a
blessing, the hospital only try for survival from 24 wks, and the church stay
with the same criteria. She was a baby, and in my eyes deserved a christening,
but she was blessed instead.

I saw this grandchild born, we held her, and both Mum and I saw her move, but
the nurse said no! She had her back to us so how did she know. I still believe
Kirsty moved in my arms.

We were informed that you have to lose three babies before any medical tests are
done to find the cause.

My other daughter, Suzanne was safely delivered of a boy, TYLER on 29th July
2000.

Again, six month's later Andrea was pregnant, with promises that they would give
her special care.

At twenty weeks, the dreaded phone call! Andrea was bleeding. This time she was
admitted to hospital, and after going in and out of labour was given a choice,
miscarry or have an operation to have a stitch put in her cervix.

They said it had never been tried before, but she took the gamble. Her cervix
was already 3cms dilated and by a miracle he got the stitch in.

Labour continued to come and go, and then I found that one nurse had not given
her enough medication, but said she would give her the right dose 4 hours later!

On 30 January 2001 ANNA was born/died. At 22 weeks pregnancy The delivery was so
quick that there was not time to remove the stitch, therefore ANNA, the waters
and afterbirth all came together, resulting in tearing, for which Andrea had to
get stitched AGAIN.

A different vicar, said, "Certainly I will christen your granddaughter."

We asked, "What is the difference between KIRSTY & ANNA?"

One blessed, one christened.

Later this year Andrea is pregnant again, a stitch was placed in her cervix at
14 weeks, this time the baby is a boy. His name is Ryan Thomas Anthony.

She is to be admitted in the hospital on 13th November, the stitch will be
removed, and according to the doctor, Ryan will probably be born that day. He
will be a month early, but God willing, all will be ok.

Well, this is my story for my Loth sisters, if it is published in December, my
grandson Ryan will probably be here.

It hurts so much to lose these babies, I know I lost three myself, but the
misery of seeing your daughter trying so hard to smile and get through it all is
heartbreaking.

Your Loth sister,
Jean Rostrom

P.S. I will be announcing the birth to my LOTH sisters as soon as Ryan comes to
us! Please everyone pray for us... Thank You
