A VICTIM'S PRAYER

In loving memory of my sister Janie, a victim of Domestic Violence

Here I lay Lord torn and tattered.
Tell me dear Lord, what is the matter?
Are people like me meant to suffer this way,
to never know peace not even for a day?
Oh I cry out!
Please right this terrible wrong.
Set society right
to hear our bleeding song.
Don't let those who have died
die in vain.
Don't let there be killers
on Earth to remain.
But still I know this much is true,
we as victims have much to do.
We must fight for our children and their tomorrows,
so that they will never know or experience
our sorrows.
Guide us dear Lord, I cry.
That not one more victim
must senselessly die.
