Forever Hope - Laryalee Fraser

When hope seems lost, does it flow off like rain
that trickles through the gutter, down the drain?
Or is it sucked inside a windstorm gust
that leaves debris and broken twigs of trust?

There may be times we're sure it's run its course,
yet hope's a vast, renewable resource.
Some say it "springs eternal" -- but from where?
And some can feel it surge on waves of prayer.

Perhaps a great celestial fountain spills
across the wall of heaven and instills
this sense of buoyancy; it lets us raise
our thoughts above the slab of grey-doubt days.

When down-and-out, look deep and you will find
forever hope is lapping in your mind!
