“Where is Daddy?” - Ruth Ann
Mahaffey
Lord, please help me through this day
It seems so cold, dark and gray.
I need direction… I need your hand
To help my child to understand.
"Where is Daddy?” she said to me.
I had to explain, he's there with Thee.
God called him home; He needed him there,
But daddy hears you, through your prayer.
Her little fingers, grasping me tight,
Feeling afraid and feeling fright.
Please give to me the words to say
To my little child on this sad day.
"How far is Heaven?" she asked me
"I need to sit on Daddy's knee."
"Do you think we could go tonight?
So he could hold us both real tight?"
Between the tears I tried to explain,
That heaven is now daddy's domain.
God took your daddy's pain away
That's why he's not here with us today.
Don't think that daddy doesn't care
It's just that God needs him up there.
He's now an angel from up above,
Watching over us with all his love.
But it’s all right for us to cry,
Because we had to say goodbye,
But we'll see daddy again someday,
It's just that now… he's gone away.
