I Will Become My Dream -
co-authors Jon Houge and Jessica Clawson

Much of our lives is spent wishing for more,
More of that "something" we think we're here for,
Most of the time we don't know what that is,
Sometimes we feel like we are just in an abyss.
But we always can see with the early morning light,
Each day is a new beginning, or a new day for the fight.
Every day we all have our chances to do what is right,
And to make our mark somewhere, no matter how slight.
We can think about the message that we wish we could send,
To a world sometimes cruel, that is not always our friend;
To survive can be a task that is too much for some,
For those that have not, I hope their souls have become one.
I picture them all gathered together in one place,
They have friends now forever, and a smile on their face.
When I am hurting and lonely, I hear them whisper to me,
"Never stop dreaming of what you wish you could be."
So, with another step forward, no matter how futile it seems,
I will move through all my fears, and become all of my dreams.

I know I will falter every now and then
Sometimes even thinking I won't rise again
Preparing to cash it all in and bid this world good-bye
And then finding the strength to get back up and try.
Searching for that "something" in the wishes on stars
For a magic potion to erase all the invisible scars
So many souls gone by the power of their own hands
Thinking that no one, anywhere understands
With dreams of a peace believed to come only with death
A permanent solution, last chance, final exhalation of breath.
I still hear the calling of days long since gone
When I stared at death and, for no reason, fought on
Not giving up when I thought I had no other way out
Not even when drowning in desperation and self-doubt.
Temptation still mounts and I think death is calling
Only now I have guardian angels to keep me from falling.
I've learned that life will get better even if I don't know what it means,
And to fight through all of my battles to become all of my dreams.
