The Pain Within by Pamela Lawson

There are a lot of people who are being hurt
Physically and emotionally that they cannot see
Beyond the pain that has been inflicted upon them
Silently they cry in hopes one day they will be set free

They are afraid to reach out to others
Letting them know what it is they are going through
Because they know what would happen if they do
Any signs of help remain out of their view

They shut the doors to their hearts and souls
The situation they feel they cannot control
They have been scarred and they have been burnt
No longer do they feel as if they are whole

Their bodies, their minds no longer feel the pain
In a world of their own they remain
Begging for it to stop and for them to be left alone
They live their life fearing the unknown

Silently they pray in hopes God will show them the way
Giving to them the strength they need to face each day
So they can have the courage to walk away
Putting an end to what has caused them much dismay

Their identity has been taken away
Their self-esteem has now been destroyed
They feel as if they have nowhere to really go
How scared they are they do not want to show

They put their lives into God's hands
Hoping one day they will be able to stand
Silently they wait for that day
And strength is what they will be able to display.
