Why am I here? by Dori Bushee

I am sure at one time or another you've asked yourself why you are here, and I am not talking about why you are here on this earth, but why you are here in cyber space my friend.

Being online is an escape from the world of reality we live in, into a world of the unknown where we can meet folks we would never come into contact with any other way.

Those on the other side of the screen can bring us joy as well as tears, and we can become so close to them that they feel more like family than many of our relatives ever do.

In cyber space we can expose those emotions that might be too hard to share with those around us, who are apt to be more critical at a time when we may need more compassion.

For some folks, being in cyber space is often the only other outlet in an otherwise lonely place, and due to health reasons this may be the only place they can go to reach out to others.

The heart is so fragile, yet can also be resilient, and for many there are times when our hearts need more than what our real world has to offer, and cyber space can be a place to turn to.

So when folks ask me why I am here in cyber space, I tell them that I am here to reach out to others and to share with them, and I am thankful for getting to know each and every one of them.
