Taking Flight
by Ruth Gallant
Here I am taking
flight
Leaving behind all
my plights
On eagle wings I
wow to fly
Forever and always
at time goes by
I used to sit
and worry so
But it was time to
just let go
To find again my
eagle wings
To set my soul
free so it could sing
There came a
time it seemed to die
And then time away
made me see why
It may not be what
others want
But I have set my
soul free to fly
The burdens
that once troubled me
Now are a part of
history
The sparrow that
was coming out in me
Has now found
again it's eagle wings
I know not all
will understand
Sometimes we have
to change our plans
What seemed so
right yesterday
Simply didn't seem
right anymore
That small
sparrow that once existed
And didn't like
life very much
Began to surface
more and more
It was time again
to learn to soar
So I began to
think and think
And send my
thoughts to the one above
To ask what it is
I must do
In order to myself
be true
I spoke in
very gentle terms
And I know He
heard every word
He allowed me to
see that I can be
Simply this, just
me!
So today my
wings are opened wide
My heart is light
and my soul sings
Why, because I
have given me
The right to fly
on eagle wings.
