Today's Message: Come play with me
For the last week, I have been puppy sitting for a friend. She was leaving to go
out of state and her "sitter" had a change of business plans and also
had to go out of state. She asked me if I would keep her six month old female
cookapoo (cocker spaniel, poodle mix). Without hesitation I replied, "I'd
be glad to. I don't have anything else to do." Well, nothing imperatively
demanding and since I now am retired massage therapist and
artist/author/photographer, my time is my own. Then she asked what my cat would
think of it. I said, "The cat does it's own thing and goes and comes as it
wants. It will be fine." So I suggested she go on and bring him (opps her)
over that night instead of six the next morning! The week flew by as "Lexie"
and I did everything together. She was constantly at my side wanting to play.
She had several squeak toys to choose from and we would play with them. She
helped me dig up weeks in the garden. Then she directed my wheelbarrow as I
carted load after load of rocks on my path. As I would paint, she would run
around picking up my rags and tissues and trying to eat them. When I would drop
my pencil, she would grab it and run. She sat on my feet as I framed my
pictures. Occasionally she would lick my toes or chew on my hand wanting my
attention. At the end of the day, she would sit on my lap on the swing and watch the sun go down. I don't know when I have laughed so
much and had as much fun. When the owner returned I showed her a picture that I
had enlarged from the 85 (48 one day) pictures I took of Lexie. I printed out 18
of them for myself.. Tomorrow my friend is coming over to see the rest of them.
I told her I already need a Lexie fix. I miss her undivided attention and
playful spirit. It brought out the child in me who always wanted a dog but
wasn't allowed to have one. It made me laugh and brought joy into my heart. I
loved that puppy and it immediately loved me in return. I'm thinking of getting
my own puppy now.

online in a week, I have not read any messages or seen any sites so I hope you
are enjoying your world. Hope your days are full of fun, laughter, playfulness
