Today's Message - Silver Lining
>
My daughter Susan had an accident. She broke her ankle horseback riding. Her
daughter, Shelby had been riding with her for quite a while with some of there
friends. She had a special made saddle that fit on the horses rump where her
toddler could ride with her. Shelby, age three, decided it was time to go
play with the older children. They got off the horses and went off to play.
Susan and one of her friends decided to ride a little longer and headed down a
slight grade. Her horse slipped on the wet grass and fell to the side pinning
Susan's leg under her before she righted herself. After hobbling around walking
back up the hill she realized something was indeed wrong and after removing her
boot realized it was broken. (Note: The exact same thing happened when she was
fourteen years old.) It was divine providence that Shelby had gotten off when
she did or she could have been injured as well.

Susan had a small hairline fracture on the fibula at the ankle and didn't have
to have a cast but got by with a support boot. Although she was in pain for
several days and hobbling on crutches for several weeks, it was a blessing that
it wasn't a worse break and that Shelby wasn't hurt as well. So I decided to go
to her rescue and wait on her while she was laid up. I enjoyed going to visit
Susan and her family and spending some time pampering her (As it has been a long
time since I pampered my daughter, now age 34). I also enjoyed playing with my
granddaughter Shelby and spending quality time with her so her mother could have
some rest. It was then that I decided that I needed to spend quality time with
each of my grandchildren by themselves on a regular basis. They need the
attention...as occasionally we all do. My daughter got her time, quite by
accident. And now I plan to schedule time for my other grandchildren as well.
There is a silver lining in all events if we look for them.
