Johnny asked " Where else but the patio." " How is she doing?" " She's doing really good actually I'm surprised she's doing as well as she is with losing her friend and all. I thought she would have taken it a lot harder then what she did. I think she's ready for the next step." Daniels said with pride. "Oh Yeah, what next step?" " I think she's ready to go to the halfway house. Probably in about three days or so." "Oh yeah that's great news." Johnny said before leaving to go see Nicci ............ Johnny walked out to the patio to find Nicci sitting at a picnic table." Hey Half Pint, How ya doing?" Johnny asked walking up to her. " Hi Johnny." She said shielding her eyes from the morning sunlight." I take it you have to work today?" " Yeah a whole forty eight hours, but I thought I would stop in and say hi." Johnny said sitting down next to her. " I'm glad you did." Nicci smiled." You know Paster Daniels said I'll be able to leave here in about three days." " I know it's great. You've come such a long way and I want you to know I'm very proud of you." Seeing the nurse walking up with a breakfast tray, Johnny realized it was time to go." Half Pint, I got to be going you eat your breakfast and I'll see you later." Johnny urged standing up from the table. Looking down at the tray then at Johnny she confessed." Johnny I'm not hungry." " Maybe you just need the right incentive." Johnny said taking out a Hershey bar from his uniform jacket " Oh yeah," Nicci said reaching for the bar. " Hold on Half Pint, first you have to eat your breakfast." Johnny said grinning as he handed the candy bar to the nurse. " Oh Johnny that is so un fair." Nicci protested " Well that's the deal, you eat your breakfast then you can have your precious candy bar." " Well since you put it that way, I'll try. But it's still not fair." Nicci said giving up the fight. " That's my Half Pint." Johnny said reaching over and kissing her on the forehead before leaving ............ As Johnny drove to the station it accured to him that she didn't pull away from him when he kissed her. Is she finally trusting him? In any case he was so proud of her she was doing so well. He was so wrapped up in his thoughts that he didn't see Knuckles and his goons three car lenghs behind him. With out a warning a loud bang came from the front drivers side followed by a steady <ca thunk ca thunk> Oh great now what a flat, of all things. Johnny cursed as he pulled into a empty parking lot. Johnny quickly got out and took the spare off the hood, then went around to the back to get the four way and jack out. He was so busy hurrying to change the tire that he was unaware that Knuckles and his gang had surrounded him " Hey Pretty Boy times up." Knuckles announced putting a firm hand on Johnny's shoulder making him jump. " What the hell do you want?" Johnny snapped not taking his attention off changing the tire. " Oh you know what I want, I want that slutty little bitch back." Knuckles demanded Hearing the name Knuckles called her made Johnny's blood boil. Johnny then stood up and turned around to face Knuckles while grasping the four way so tight that his knuckles were turning white." Yeah well don't hold your breath, you don't deserve her." " What the fuck you think I'm doing playing kid games?" Knuckles spit grabbing Johnny by his uniform shirt. " No and I'm not playing either, You're never getting your slimy hands on her." Johnny said with conviction " I can tear you apart right now. You don't seem to understand that the bitch is mine and I will get her back and when I do I'm going to teach that whore a lesson she'll never forget even if I have to kill her." Knuckles said slamming Johnny hard against the Land Rover. " YOU'LL NEVER GET HER BACK." Johnny yelled feeling himself exploding inside. " Fine you can have the bitch, Maybe I'll just take your partner's wife instead. Yeah that's it I'll make Mrs. Joanne DeSoto my new bitch." With fire sweeping through Johnny snapped." YOU SON OF A BITCH, THIS IS BETWEEN YOU AND ME, DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT LAYING YOUR HANDS ON JO." He yelled striking Knuckles in the head with the four way dropping him to the ground. " I OUGHT TO KILL YOU FOR THAT." Knuckles screamed charging at Johnny knocking him to the ground then seeing a police car in the distance Knuckles changed his mind about the beating " What's wrong loser you scared?" Johnny asked with a grin picking himself up only to have Knuckles kick him in the face giving him a bloody nose. Grabbing a hand full of Johnny's hair, Knuckles jerked his head back far enough to where Johnny felt his neck crack." Listen here bitch you've costed me enough. The way I look at it is you owe me money. Money that my whore would've made me. Now you either give her back to me or I'll take it out of your ass." Knuckles threatened before leaving ............... " What the hell happened to you?" Roy asked seeing Johnny walk into the locker room with a bloody nose. " Oh nothing." Johnny said " Nothing, it looks like a whole lot of nothing to me. Here let me look at it." Roy said " Roy there's nothing to see, it's just a bloody nose. What are you going to do put a turnicate on it?" Johnny protested pulling away from his partner Taking offence of his partners remark." No, I just want to check it out cause I'm concerned. There is no reason to get snippy." Roy said coming to his deffence " I know Roy and I'm sorry but it's just a bloody nose people get them all the time." Johnny apologized " Roy." Johnny spoke up." When is Jo and the kids coming back." Johnny asked trying to not look worried " Well she called last night and said it would be at least three maybe four more weeks before she feels good about leaving. She wants to make sure her brother in law is back on his feet before she comes back." Roy said." Why?" " Oh no reason just wondered." Johnny said relieved of the answer. He knew that Jo was safe with her sister up north. For that reason he felt he should spare Roy of the worry and not tell him about Knuckles or his threat. TBC |
