Yule (Winter Solstice)
Yule symbolizes when the days are beginning to get longer, The rebirth of the sun,  and the God is to be reborn to the earth. Much celebration is to be had during the twelve days of the yule log because we know that spring isn't too far behind. The ceremonial Yule log traditionally was harvested from a person's own land or given as a gift. It was usually Ash and was set fire by a piece of the year before's log. The log is usually decorated and doused with cider or ale. The log is a lovely tradition and though we can't do it exactly as it was done in the past, it's worth trying to keep up the tradition.
Yule is most acceptably celebrated on the Winter solstice but the whole month of December has been used for the celebration at one time or another. Twelfth night celebrations are still to be had by alot of tradtions and the yule log is burned for twelve hours for good luck.
It is the best time for doing magickal workings for Peace, harmony, love, happiness, and general well being. Baby blessings and naming ceremonies are very popular for this time of year.
