| Recently, my father asked me what exactly Magick was and how it worked. Well, I never really thought about it until that moment. I mean I never really picked it apart or examined why it worked or how until that moment. But these are my thoughts on the subject if you care to read them. I don't expect you to agree with me, these are just my theories. And theories are just opinions and we are all entitled to our own. | ||||||||||
| What is Magick? Magick is energy to me. It's present in everything, everything has to potential for magick in my opinion. It's like atoms, we are all made up of it, it's present in our bodies, in the air, the trees, everything you can see and not see. It's energy that can be directed but never completely controlled because I think it has a will of it's own (in a way). You can send it out with intent and focus but you can never completely control what it does. This is my theory on this subject anyway. How does Magick work? Now for my theory on this you must understand the power of positive thinking. You raise the energy you need for whatever magickal working you are trying to perform, whether it's from yourself , the deities, or your surroundings. Once you've "pooled" that energy you release it towards it's purpose. Willing it and visualizing what you want to happen. Be specific when you visualize! If you've ever read a series of books (damn I can't remember the author right now) called the Belgariad and the Mallorean and their companions about Belgarath the Sorcerer and Polgara the Sorceress then you'll understand the concept I am talking about. These are fantasy novels but the theory of Magick in them is perfect. They call it the Will and the Word. You gather your Will (program the energy to what you want) and release it with the Word. Very simple but effective. Why does Magick work? Good question. LOL. I don't know why exactly, I just know that it does. I think that when you overanalyze something you take the mystery out of it. I don't ask why it works, I just know that it does. I like the mystery in it so I don't examine the why's too closely. I like to think it's because the All and magick itself likes me and wants the same things I want because they are good things. It's a very simplistic way to veiw things but I see no reason not to keep things simple. |
