| In Finland, 1995, the world was about to be struck by the hottest new "Love Metal"/ "Scandinavian Blues"band. They would call themselves HIM (and later on be confused for His Infernal Majesty). When their first CD, Greatest Lovesongs Vol. 666 came out in 1998, it hit the top of the Finnish charts quickly (and eventually went gold throughout Scandinavia). Their first single, "Join Me", brought a new feel to music, and so did HIM frontman, Ville Valo. With his hot looks, hypnotizing moves, incredible voice, and moving words, he was bound to be one of the biggest European sex-symbols. With his partners, Mige Amour and Lily (Linde) Lazer at his side, Valo managed to keep the band a success through not only a manager change, but also a new keyboardist, Zoltan Pluto, and new a new drummer, Gas Lipstick. With that, HIM came out with their next CD, Razorblade Romance. Like Greatest Lovesongs, it too hit the charts with a bang. By this time, they were not only known throughout Finland, but also though all of Europe! Things were going smoothly for the band until Zoltan left soon after shooting their latest video, "Right Here In My Arms". Many fans were angry, and especially in Germany, sales started to drop. But with their new keyboardist, Emerson Burton, HIM managed to regain many fans and record their album, Deep Shadows and Brilliant Highlights. Deep Shadows wasn't as hot as Greatest Lovesongs or Razorblade Romance, but HIM was still near the top of the charts and running European tours as usual. Even today, HIM is still doing many interviews, making videos, and writing songs. They also have just begun another European tour that started in Finland. They hope to introduce their fourth album later this year. Good luck to them! |
