Snow Fields

I am cold,
frozen dead,
like the world in winter.

Snowflakes fall
from above my head
into a world of absolute dread
and land softly without a sound.

These snow fields
I am trapped within
  seem to stretch on
forever.

Icy fear
that reflects the sin
  will it ever end?
never!

I am here
in this dark,
  icy place
isolated and all alone.

crystalline tears
run down my face
and fall to the ground of this snowy place,
singing a song of sorrow.

But just as I thought
I was too far gone
  I began to realize:
I began to see.

Where I am now
with the melancholy song
  sung by the frigid air

This is what I am,
but not what I will be.

It may be a long time past tomorrow,
but life will return to this desolate place.
And soon

It will be springtime here,
and in these barren snow fields
wildflowers will bloom.
