About Us
The Emek Hefer Choir is a mixed-voice choir of fifty members, conducted by Shimon Levtov. The choir�s repertoire is of Baroque, Classical, and 20th century, and includes Israeli and other folk songs as well as traditional Jewish melodies.
Founded in 1965 by Henry Klausner, and since the choir has performed widely at concerts, festivals and music projects in Israel and abroad under the guidance of several conductors.
We meet every Sunday evevning for a three hours reheasal, at Beit Yizhak, Emek Hefer region. From Our Resume
Emek Hefer Choir founded in 1965
1989 - visited Germany and Switzerland, participated in concerts and a live radio broadcast.
1994 - participated in the Eurocantat Competition in Lytomissil, the Czech Republic, earning a Gold Diploma
1998 - represented the Emek Hefer region and Israel in the Jubilee festivities at Siegen in Germany, a twin city to Emek Hefer.
2001 - invited to represent Israel in the prestigious annual Llangollen Eisteddfod, in Wales, U.K. The choir competed in two choral categories, sang on local TV, and gave a concert in Manchester.
2002 - Participated in the Choral Workshop led by the famous Hungarian conductor, Gabor Hollerung (chief conductor of the Dohnanyi Symphony Orchestra, Budafok).
2003 - Participated in a choral workshop with the conductor Stanley Sperber.
2003 - invited to represent Israel in the First International Festival of Choral Art, �Singing World�, St. Petersburg, Russia, celebrating the 300th anniversary of the founding of the city.\
2004-2006 The choir performed acapella music as well as performing with the leading orchesras in Israel: The Jerusalem Radio (IBA) Symphony Orchestra, the Rishon Lezion Symphony Orchestra and the Ra'anana Symphonieta. |
