| This is an excerpt from Chapter One. This is not the beginning, I pick up here in the middle of the chapter Kris sat back down, "You want to know about my first time, huh." Kris couldn't help but to repeat herself, they wanted to know something only a few people knew about, Ami included. Taking her time, she took a swig of beer. "You won't believe me when I tell you." Everyone suddenly gave her their full attention, and Kris grinned at them. "Of course, whatever I say can be verified by Ami." Everyone simultaneously turned to face Ami, who was grinning from ear to ear at them. One of the girls shrugged and said, 'Okay, just tell us." Kris shrugged. "Okay." Taking another drink of beer, she realized that unfortunately she'd never been able to forget the story she was about to tell. She became quiet for a while reflecting on the past and the hurt she had experienced then, wondering why it still hurt now. Her silence angered one of the girls in the back, "Well, are you going to tell us or not?" Kris stared ahead, not acknowledging the girl spoke. She tried to figure out a place to start. The story was strange, unbelievable; at least to her. She heard Ami speak, "Hey guys, chill out. Give her time, believe me, you'll want to hear this story." Kris grinned at Ami, "It is an odd story, isn't it?" Ami grinned back at her, "Yeah, it is." Ami reached over to get a cigarette and lighted it, and handed one over to Kris, knowing Kris would need it to get through the story. "But, I know you?d do it all over again, if given the chance. You wouldn't change a thing." Kris stared at Ami, knowing she would have done it all over again. However, she would have changed a few things, like the way her heart had gotten shattered in many pieces. "Yes, I'd do it again, except I would change the way it ended." Ami nodded and Kris started her tale, she remembered it as though it happened yesterday. *** Kris was sixteen years old and a sophomore in high school. She'd been a semi-popular girl, on the varsity basketball team, but most people considered her a tomboy. That wasn't an endearing quality to most boys her age, intimidated by her height, and she could play basketball better than most of them. Because of this, she rarely dated anybody. She did have quite a few friends, good friends like Ami Spencer, her best friend. She never partied much, but the parties she did go to were nothing like the party that changed her life. One day out of the blue, Kris and Ami had been having lunch in their regular spot; in the hallway before you got to the cafeteria, when Tony Crump came over and joined them. Tony was a really nice guy who Kris got along with well, they had a few classes together, but she'd never considered Tony anything but an acquaintance. Ami had a huge crush on him since middle school, so Kris wouldn't have even considered Tony anything but a friend. Tony didn't usually join them for lunch, but she didn't think anything of his joining them, thinking Ami might have invited him to sit with them today. Tony said hi to Kris, than sat next to Ami. They were in a serious discussion, and Kris didn't want to interrupt, thinking maybe Tony had come around and they might start dating. Ami had just told him how she felt; he'd been totally clueless before that. Kris wasn't sure what Tony said when Ami told him. Ami just said he was interested in another girl, but it wouldn't stop Ami; nothing would until he was hers. Kris loved Ami's positive attitude, she wished she could adopt the optimism; she'd been born a true pessimist. Tony left, having not stayed long talking with Ami; Ami turned around with a grin on her face. "What's up?" Kris asked, knowing her smile was mischievous, and up to no good. "Well," Ami was excited; she couldn?t keep it out of her voice. "We've just been invited to a party Saturday night." "Oh?" Kris really didn't think much about it, Ami always seemed to be invited to one party or another, and always tried to get her to go along with her. Kris didn't usually go, letting Ami go and have all of the fun. "Who's having the party?" Ami shrugged. "I don't know, who cares? I think I should explain what kind of party this is." "What do you mean?" Kris hadn't needed to have a party explained to her yet, and didn't know why Ami thought she needed to explain this one. "Well," Ami hesitated. "We will be playing "The Game", do you know what that is?" Kris shook her head no, right when the bell to end lunch rang. Ami stood; they wouldn't have time to talk about it right now. "I'll explain everything after school. I have a class with Tony next and I'll get more details. Don't mention the party to anyone, until I explain everything." The rest of the day had been miserable, Kris had no idea what "The Game" was, and it was killing her to try to figure it out. What kind of game would a bunch of high school kids play at a party? Lord only knew, especially with the kids she went to school with. Finally, school ended, and Kris was going to have her answer. She'd seen Ami a few times throughout the rest of the day, but always on the run, heading in different directions to their classes and no time to talk. Kris stood beside Ami's locker after school waiting for her, and waiting for the answer to all of the questions she'd formed in her head all day. Ami came down the hall with Tony, and Kris almost left, hating to interrupt the two of them. Tony stopped her by saying, "Hey Kris, what's up?" "Hey, nothing much here, how about you?" Tony just shrugged, "not too much, look guys I have to go, see ya around." Ami and Kris watched him leave; making a beeline for his best friend, and the guy Kris was in love with, Jake Taylor. Ami turned to Kris, "Hey.' Kris smiled, "I didn't mean to disturb you guys." "Boy do I wish there was something to disturb. So what's up?" Shaking her head Kris said, "Not much, I have about half an hour before I have to be at practice. I thought we could talk about the party you were telling me about." Ami had her head in the locker while Kris spoke. As soon as Kris finished, Ami stopped what she was doing and grinned at her, "Girl, do I have something to tell you." "What?" Kris hated suspense, and Ami always made her wait before telling her something important. "Well guess who's going to be at the party? And he especially asked for you to be there?" "Who?" "Jake Taylor." Kris almost fell to the floor; she'd been in love with Jake Taylor since last year when she first met him "Okay, so we'll go." "Whoa, wait girl," Ami chuckled, "don't you think you should know what your getting yourself into? I don't think this is your kind of party." Kris just remembered Ami said something about a game being played at the party and she still didn't know what it was. It didn't matter; she would play any stupid game, as long as Jake wanted her there. "Okay, so tell me." "Well, The Game is kind of a hide and seek, but you're in sort of a group." Ami looked at Kris and realized she was confused. "Okay, it's like this, there are six girls, and three guys. Each guy picks two girls and then they go into their designated room and the girls hide. I know it sounds stupid," Ami said, "but the point is, who ever the guy finds is his partner for the rest of the night." "Partner? In what?" "Sex. He gets to do anything he wants with her for the night." Kris just stood there staring at Ami not sure if she was joking with her or not, she'd never heard of such a ridiculous game. The first and only thing Kris could say, "you've got to be kidding." "No, I'm not. It's a sex party." |
