From Friday night until the following Sunday when the boat will come to take everyone home.  A ferryboat will take us from Alderney to the island and wont return until time to leave.  Well be there the whole time with no phones, computers, telephones or radios.
It sounds dangerous to me.  What if there is an accident?  How will you call for help?
Ever the worrywart.  Nothing will happen to anyone, and if it did, Im sure Cameron has a way to reach someone.  Remember his family vacations there every year; surely, theyd have a way off in case of an emergency.  Do you want to hear the rest?
Natalie didnt think she was being a worrywart, she thought the question had been reasonable.  But Emily always told her she worried too much, so she put her questions aside for now.  Besides Emily had her interest.  Okay, continue.
Good.  Cameron has invited five or so friends to join him on the island.  Hes told each of us that we could invite another friend if we want.  You should join us, theres nothing standing in your way.  The vacation is completely free, all youre going to be expected to do is lay out and enjoy the sand and sun.  You wont have to worry about work or what happened today.  Cmon, how about it?  Will you join us?
Im not sure Em, she was trying to think about this logically.  There had to be a catch didnt there?  Where is the island?
The island is in the English Channel, well have to fly to Alderney and a boat will take us to the island from there.  Falcons Nest is a private island their family bought centuries ago.  It stays vacant most of the year, since Mr. and Mrs. Falconer only visit it once or twice a year.  They hire people to keep the house and the grounds clean, but no one lives there.
It was all a little overwhelming to Natalie.  Thats the second time youve mentioned Alderney, am I supposed to know what that is?
Alderney is a nearby island and has its own airstrip.  Cameron wants everyone to meet there and take one boat to the island.  Ill need to know if youre going soon though, Cameron is supplying everyone with plane tickets.  So hell have to get your ticket.
Natalie nodded to let her know she understood, but gave her a look that said shed lost her mind.  She was having trouble grasping what Emily was telling her and decided that another drink would help clear her mind, she obviously hadnt had enough.  She felt as though what Emily was saying was a bad joke.  Calling Sally over, she ordered another vodka and waited until Sally brought back the drink before she spoke.  I dont know this Cameron guy, Id feel weird staying at his place and letting him pay for everything.  You know I dont like to take charity and what hes willing to pay for surpasses my ideas of generosity.  Why is Cameron being so generous with his money?  What does he expect in return?  That hit it on the head for her.  Thats what she couldnt figure out, why would anyone offer such things to complete strangers for free.
He doesnt want anything from anyone, other than to have a good time.  And the money, well, this is how he explained it to me, he knows hes asking a lot from everyone, flying to Alderney and spending a week on the island with strangers.  So he thought hed pay for everything, that way everyone would be more willing to go.
Where does he get the money?  That was another important question in Natalies mind.
Money isnt an issue to Cameron.  His parents are millionaires and Cams well off.  Hes made his own fortune as a stockbroker.  Hes the most generous person Ive ever met, and he doesnt mind sharing his wealth.
Natalie still thought there were holes in the explanation, so she decided to ask a few more questions to try to fill in those gaps.  Besides you and Dillon, who else will be there?
I dont know everyone who will be there myself.  Of course, I know Cameron and his girlfriend Gwendolyn will be there.  Other than that, the others will be strangers.
How many people will be there?
Ten or more I believe.  Cameron doesnt want a lot of people there, just enough to have fun.  We may even find you a man there.
Dont start Emily.  She warned, giving her a stern look before she called Sally over and ordered a draft beer, hoping the switch wouldnt make her sick.
Ive got it.  Emily said loudly.  Dillon is talking about bringing a friend with him, and hes not sure if hes going to ask his old college buddy or a friend he grew up with.  Ill tell him to take this really great guy I know.
Em
Hes perfect for you Nat.
Dont you dare!  Emily you let Dillon bring his friend.
Are you sure Nat?  This guy is your type.
Absolutely!  Natalie hated when Emily said that, not once had Emily set her up with a man she thought was her type, hell, she didnt even know what her type was.  Dont tell him who he can and cant take.
Okay, thats fair.  Like I said there might be a guy there for you.
Will you please stop trying to set me up?  Ive asked you numerous times not to play match maker.  She might as well have saved her breath, talking to Emily about this subject was like talking to a brick wall.  But she always said it to make herself feel better.
Well someone has to, since you obviously wont look for yourself.
Im not interested in a relationship right now, Im too busy.
Bullshit!
